These classroom photos are wonderful! Just as I remember my early schooldays in the late 50s in Ince...little girls wearing kilts and with plaits in their hair, and little boys in short pants. I recall making Christmas decorations for the classroom, just like the children in the photo.Thankyou for posting these pics...they've made my day, as I'm sure they have for all us Wigan World fans.
A lovely picture! How did the photographer get this without the children being aware? I love the expressions on their faces, most of them keen to get on with their task - and what about the two boys in the foreground, ready for a bit of fun!
On the cupboard at the back is the prototype for a Chinese lantern which might be their next project.
Nice to see their paintings stuck on the wall.
I was desperate to have a hair ribbon like those little girls - Mum said it wouldn't stay in!
Looked at the photo and wondered if I am in it. Remember Ruth Aspinall, Miss Hart, Patricia Sherrington and Beverley Mason.
I was in Miss Hart's class in the mid 1960s. I remember that classroom well as it was such an odd shape. Miss Hart was terrifying to me, but at least I learned a lot, probably out of fear!
Linda are you kathleens sister? Does anybody remember the teacher with plaits wound round her ears like earphones
The teacher with the plaits wound round over her ears was Mrs Bazeley.
