I remember going there for esso blue for my Dad greenhouse heater.
Is this the shop that used to be owned by Tan Corless. She used to pump paraffin by hand from a large open drum. H&S would have a fit today!
The van in the pic. has aregistration dated 1964 I think.
Tan Corless's shop was about 100yds from this shop. It was on the corner of Poolstock Lane and Howden Drive, next to Peter's Chinese Chip-shop
Thanks for that Jim.
Even John had forgotten that, but now you've reminded him he can picture an advertisement for Kiwi Boot Polish in the window!
By the time I arrived in Worsley Mesnes in 1965, that shop, next to 'Peter's' sold paint and wallpaper.
My mum used to have the chip shop facing Kays on the opposite corner to the out door.
Mmmmm best chips! Those were the days of proper Wigan chips.
When your mum's shop went did you work at Yates', St. Pauls Avenue Joan?
