Wish I had a pound for every time I've walked up that (New) road!
yeah me to this picture was taken from millers motorbikes window wher i worked from school 1975 till it closed
I remember I went there for a job as a Fireman just after I left school I was probably 16 or 17. Passed all the written tests and carrying a fireman on your back for 100 yards etc. They told me I was a bit to young and to come back the next year and they would deffinately take me on. I never went back, as I never told them I had no head for heights. Why I applied in the first place I'll never know L.O.L.
When I was 16 or 17 I joined the AFS Auxiliary Fire Service and we used to train on the tower carrying one another down ladders in a firemans lift.
We also used to attend fires if there where any and if it wasnt a life and death type of fire the regulars firemen use to let us put it out.
I went there for a job, everything was right in the interview.
Heavy Goods experience, first aider, fit, Then he told me that I was too old......I was 31 !!! :o(
So I went and got a job in the Lancs CC Ambulance Service...luvved it! ;o)
worked there from 1974 to 1999 with plenty of great people
Hi all, great picture, i worked there from 1989 until i retired in 2010, with many fond memories and brilliant guys to work with. The trees used to have birds nesting in them and you could almost touch the nest from the top floor windows. The trees have all gone now, and i know the guy responsible for getting them cut down, although he did only ask for them to be cut right back, the guy doing the cutting took the huff about being told how to do his job, so he cut them down to the stumps. For all you guys who know me and the story, you will know the man i am talking about, the Silver Fox, any ideas ?, don't put his name on here, he will hunt you down, lol.
