Straightway I recognize Bill Francis and Peter Smethurst on the back row and David Hill, Jimmy Hornby and Terry Cassidy on the front row.
Is it 73/74 season is that Bill Ashurst 8th back row?
not Bill Ashurst JM - all at St. Judes should recognise the bloke with the ball!!!
Tough one this Malc. Extreme left back row is Tony Karalius. Fifth from the left back row is Brian Gregory. I recognise quite a few on here but names elude me! I'll see if I can put names to faces
Granada - Karalius is right - but its not Gregory - it is a toughy - looks like i will be keeping my clothes on!
Bloke with the ball is Jimmy Hickey and just over his left shoulder is it Bill Francis?
Yes it is
Could that be Alan Farrington 5th from left on the back row and maybe Chris Fuller next to Jimmy Hornby?
Ted toohey isthe coach on the back row
bob blackwood ? 2nd right back row
Not Bob Blackwood and NOT Chris Fuller
Front row second from the right is John Whittle. I've come to the conclusion that this must be an "A" team match as there are too many first team players of this era absent. For example Hogan, Willicombe, Vigo, Wright, Ashcroft and Irving etc. Maybe it could have been taken when there was a first team players strike. Either way its a tough one.
well done 1934granada - it is indeed the 'A' team - but thats not Johnny Whittle - a couple of well known faces not been nmaed yet though.....
Front row third from the left, Alan Taylor?
yes it is Granada
forth back row Dave Regan
Back row L-R
Karalius, ?, ?, Regan, Farrington, Francis, Smethurst, ?, Toohey

Jim nulty must be there and Alan Taylor these two signed with Tony Karalius from Widnes RUFC nulty 2nd in from right front Taylor next to Hornby ..Manning or Ledbetter is the one 2nd from i left back row
Ashurst was in Australia by that time Fulller had retired
Hello my late father Jack Reid Brierley played for Wigan. I am just wondering if you have any further information or any photos of his time playing for Wigan. He was born 3/7/1927 thanking you in advance
Hi Jacqueline, I can’t find a Jack R Brierley who may have played for Wigan but a certain J Brierley was at Rochdale.
