Thanks for the photo t. I had been puzzling over where 'Pow Hillock' was remember it perfectly now, and the row of houses there. Anyone have any idea what this means in 'Lommera Green' speak?
This is where Brit Boy and I caught the Kitt Green bus ..... that's not us in the picture though ...lol Any idea of the date? I don't think the gate was there in our day. I remember going here for dancing lessons. Fred and I had different teachers than the ones you had. We were in the other class.

The buildings to the right are still there today Trinity methodist hall. The street is Queens street.

Just out of shot to the right, in front of Trinity Methodist Hall is the Weslyan chapel.

Tricia - it was originally called 'Pole Hillock', which was altered by folk who talk proper to 'Pow Hillock' or 'Pow 'illock '

Further to above - Lamberhead Green fair used to be held 'on the Pole Hillock' every July, in the 19th c.

Ah... I get it now Mick. Thank you for that. Been away from God's chosen for too long I guess.

All of us that lived on the Green it was Pow Willock. Lomerra Green slang.

The picture was taken in 1275 BC. (Before Cameras). The girls on the corner are Trish, Dorothy and Harriet. I am leaning against the back wall with my brother. Don't we wear well..!!

Still don't know your full name, t. I remember Peter (Pey) Ashurst from The Green and also Colin Garbutt who I have recently been in touch with.

to the left of picture before the row of houses ,there was a slaughter house behind .at the end of the row of houses there was a shop , think this was pigotts , but could be wrong .happy memories

Pigott's was a shoe shop further down Ormskirk Rd

ticsmon, yes piggots shoe shop was near to jack carrington , but was not allways there .never knew mrs pollit having a fish shop on pow hillock , on ormskirk rd yes facing pannache hair dressers , then she moved down into pem in the row where the hub was ,across way from queens picture place

I fell off the parochial hall trying to get a pigeon egg -88ft I think? was in daily mirror at the time 1955/56? no permanent injuries-may have knocked some sense in.

I remeber going to the cubs here, Akela was Joan Arrowsmith who also had somethibng to do with the old folks home on Norley Hall. I also went to the Boy Scouts here before they built the new premises further down Fleet Street. Both buildings are sadly gone now.

Joan Arrowsmith was my Nan - she was a cub leader, and the matron at Norley Old Folks home. You have a great memory! Sadly she died in the summer of 2004. What a character!!

I remember Harold Bullough well. Only he could fall off the Parochial Hall. Hope you are well, lad. Cheers.

my husbands relative, was killed in this hall in the early 1900's. she was six years old when her dress caught fire and she was burned to death. god bless her. her name was alice atherton.

18/12/2013, a builder as started on foundations, putting steel formation for beam prior to concreating slab,it looks like the are going io be flats....

I used to go to the parochial hall , where mr king took our lessons . He taught us knitting and needlework . He was a lovely kind natured teacher .

John Belshaw...any relation to Fred Belshaw? Worked at Triangle Valves with me and lived in Skem in 1964? I bought a black lab from him.
