Wigan Album

My great great grandparents lived in Lime Street from the 1870's onwards. I only found this out several years ago and so it's wonderful to see the actual area they lived in since it no longer exists.

It looks like the top of Oxford street in Scholes.The picture appears to have been taken from the grass banking of Longshoot somewhere we spent many hours in the 60s sliding down the hill on old pieces of cardboard. There were some garages in the bottom right corner.

On the left is Regent Street looking down to its junction with Greenough Street. Lime street was the other side of Greenough street. The backyards on your right are from the houses on Oxford Street.To-day you would be at the back of Longshoot health centre looking towards Wigan Town Centre.
