Looks like the union reps got good jobs in those days
do you know if bernard lowe is related to the guest family of morris street/ baldwin street- I am trying to locate relatives of the guest family. any info will be greatfully accepted
Jimmy Sloan (right) was my Dad. This is a very happy picture which hides the inter union tension between the NUR and ASLEF. The division became very bitter during the 1955 strike when ASLEF members struck over pay differentials but the NUR members continued to work.
I can remember being Mr Jim Sloans fireman on the Manchster to Workington Express and newspapersWhatloveley man Jim was always had a nac of putting people at ease and he always looked out for you when you worked with him.
God Bless Jimmy I will never forget you.
My grand mother was Alice Lowe , who had relatives on Baldwin street , she married my grand father John Guest, they moved to rotherham .
