Thanks to Walter Southern for kindly sending along to me the book on "Wigan - Through Wickham's Window" I've been able to compare two similar views of the Parish Church in Wigan as seen from the corner of Bishopgate and Crawford street. The black and white version was taken in 1892 and the colour one some 115 years later. Apparently between 1898 and 1902, after the b/w photo, the whole of the exterior stonework was restored.

Walked past this morning and the clock chimed 9. Wonder of wonders, it was on time!

Garry , what on earth are you on about this time?

I agree Pw, you asked a simple, probably rhetorical question and he opens his mouth before his brain is in gear, as he does MANY a time. I ALSO wonder where the cross has gone to.

Sorry PW I thought it read "DON'T" like the photo. I didn't have my specs on.

Yes, where did that cross go?

Jonno, I didn't open my mouth at all, it was my fingers.
