Keith, thank you once more these pictures are invaluable part of our towns history.
Amen to what what Tom said seems to be an appropriate word for the photo. Brilliant.
Just look at their clothes and faces, makes you feel like you could just step into the crowd and be part of their day. Wonderful photos, Keith, thanks for sharing.
really amazing definition in these photos considering how old they are, thank you.
What a great pic of old Wigan. The rich section showing off in their finery, and there always has been rich people in and around Wigan. A common stereotype of Wigan is the opposite.
Pete, I completely agree, it was astonishing to me just how well dressed the populace were, as you say completely opposite to fixed and over simplified views.
Yes Keith!!!
Sorry Keith, left my comment up in the air, got sidetracked . Another super picture, women as well,no less and how!! Thanks keith
Thank you Julie, the film from which this still was taken shows dozens if not hundreds of Wigan folk coming out of the Parish Church many of them Ladies and young girls, without exception they all looked incredible. The men and boys also were a credit to the town.
I agree Keith , quite splendid!! There were too sides Keith to this era as per my other comments, one of style , quality and panache, the other horrid with deep deep struggle of existence.
