Interesting picture Ron, I think that because of the curve to the right,
I am looking toward the junction of Church Street, Sefton Road and
onward to Moor Road. If I am correct, the railway line from Liverpool
to Wigan passes under the road behind the camera man. Cheers, Ray.

Was the Grapes public house on the corner of St. James and Sefton Road ?
I remember growing up that the bus stop was called the grapes long after the pub had been demolished.

Ray - as you say, the pic is looking towards Church St and Sefton Rd (the Grapes crossroads).
It was taken from outside number 24 St James Rd, at the road's junction with Georges Terrace.
The rail bridge is 200 yards further up the road, going towards Billinge.

Is there anyone I can contact for a copy of this photo? My Grandad (Thomas Gaskell) ran a shop on the corner of St James' Rd and Church Street in the late 1930s and I'm trying to make some video content about it.
