A big Monday hello to all.
A bright sunny but very cold day here, 2C is the max forecast temp.
I am not looking forward to this week, the weather forecast is for a Siberian blast,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday look the worst days, with the prospect of snow and sub zero daytime temps.
Because of that, we have decided to do our Tuesday 'big shop' this arvo.

Mo and Marie, please take care and keep warm.

Well done to Marie.
Loads more for Our Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, a very G'Day to you, and thank you for our new thread.
Thank goodness you don't have to worry about freezing temperatures where you are.
Enjoy your warmth.
Thanks for our Monday wordage

Weather update.

It's just started snowing here in Keawyedland. so we may not get our shopping done.

Thankfully we have been stockpiling our cupboards and freezer ready for such an event, and we could survive for a long time if needed.

A very good day to all.
Well, we got our first taste of 'The Beast from the East' as the media are calling it.
After overnight and early morning snow, a bright sunny but very cold day here, 2C is the max forecast temp.
Thankfully the snow at the moment is thawing, so we may get a short local walk in this arvo.
Just watching the BBC One O'Clock News, it seems we've done very well here in the Wigan area compared to other parts of the country.

Mo, you are right when you say don't walk in to a head wind, most uncomfortable.
As you say plan ahead, I'm so glad we shopped yesterday

Hope you are keeping warm Mo and Marie, we don't skimp on heating when it gets cold.

iris-oscar-vicious.

I found the words today hard to come by, but it is a low word count.
Well done to Vince, especially the 9 letter.
Are you on a jolliday Marie? LOL

Lizzie, hope your recent wet spell greened things up a little, I know that from your previous posts you have said the lawns turn to straw till Autumn.
Thanks as ever for our wordage

A bright but extremely bitter cold day here in Blighty, -1C forecast, but with the wind chill factor it will feel like -5C brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just watching the BBC One O'Clock News, it seems we have escaped lightly here, the Eastern side of England and Scotland have copped it badlly.
We have had just some light snow flurries over lunch thankfully.
Not sure if I want to get our afternoon walk in.

A very good day to all.
Another bitterly cold day here in Blighty, -1C forecast, probably the worst day of this cold snap so far.
We have a couple of centimetres of snow on our lawn which is sticking at the moment, and the wind has been whipping up the snow in little mini whirlwinds, it's B awful!!!!!!
Compared to other parts of the country like Scotland and parts of the South West we are doing OK.

We are not budging this arvo.
Mo and Marie hope are coping with this dreadful spell of weather.
Thanks for your concern Vince, we'll muddle through, it is marginally better at the weekend.

Hello everybody, hope you had a good weekend.
Thank goodness we have got rid of the freezing weather, I found it totally debilitating.
We actually got off fairly lightly in our area, with none of the extreme snowfalls.

Mo, I don't watch Call the Midwife myself, but Susan said it was a particularly sad episode last night, but tastefully done.

I am just watching the film 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' over lunch.
When it was Susan's 21st birthday, we got engaged, and we took a party of family and friends to Blackpool, we had a meal in a hotel, and then watched an afternoon matinee of that film, happy days.

This arvo, a nice walk is on the cards, hopefully not as wrapped up as we have been.

I got my walk in just before tea and feel all the better for it.
A Korma sounds good Mo, I love a curry.
Because Thursdays is a busy day, we had started to buy ready meals for convenience.
Last week I decided it was lazy, so I bought all the spices needed to do a curry from scratch.
I just did my own thing, no recipe.
Fry the 3 basic spices of cumin, coriander and garam masala and maybe a little tumeric to release the oils, add an onion and garlic, a tin of tomatoes and simmer.
Susan cooks 4 chicken breast on Tuesday for meals and sandwiches, so I add one of them cut into cubes.
I’ve bought some yoghurt today to make it a little creamier.
I’m not a lover of coconut, but I may experiment with coconut milk, it seems to be used in a lot of recipes.
Enjoy your Korma Mo

Marie, a Korma is a mild creamy curry.

have a garlic press gadget, mix it with butter..put it on bread that I've taken
the crusts off then toast under the grill..of course that's after toasting one side of the bread...it does warm you up..I should have made it last week..
I don't know about you Ray...or Marie but coping with that cold spell didn't

nearly all year round must shake their heads at the sheer foolishness of us.
I've drove in bad snow and pea souper fog..but drove according to the
conditions, too many people are in a hurry.

I’ve been a bit remiss not posting this last couple of day so apologies are in order.
We went for a walk up the L & L canal from Rose Bridge yesterday afternoon but were well and truly rained off, I was most annoyed.

You’ve been very busy Our Mo, well done.

After a lazy morning today doing nowt we walked up to Sainsies in Westhoughton
this arvo for some ingredients for our Sunday evening meal.
We have made a change to our diet this last week.
I now make a Putanasca Sauce with wholemeal spaghetti.
It is almost a vegetarian dish and uses ‘store cupboard’ items.
It’s a bit rude, but the name translates from the Italian as ‘Whores Sauce’ LOL
It was a quick meal that the ladies of the street could put together very quickly between ‘clients’.
It uses tinned anchovies, capers, black olives, garlic and tinned tomatoes, with a sprinkling of Parmezan cheese at the end, very tasty indeed.
I think you would like it Mo, but I suspect you have already made it.
Anyroad, hope you have had a good weekend and will see you tomorrow.

A very good Monday to everybody.
It's very nice to be 'back in the groove' again LOL
A coolish cloudy day with light rain forecast for most of the day.
We will have a lazy afternoon as it's Hindley History Society meeting tonight.

Are you keeping yourself busy Our Mo?
Marie is normally on by now, I bet she's on a jolliday.
Hope Vince can join us.

Loads and loads more for everybody.

Lizzie, lovely to have you back, and sounds like a good holiday was had.
Seems like I mistakenly spelled 'Putanesca' but I am from Ince LOL
You are right when you say 'easy on the olives', there are hundreds of recipes out there, and it seems to be a 'do your own thing' type of a meal, the recipe I got was from Tesco supermarket website, and called for 150g of olives.
I use Sainsies black pitted olives from a 85g 'drained weight ' jar and that is easily the best size for two people.
Thanks for our Monday wordage

A bright sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 8C going to Leyth this morning.
I’m just settling down with a tuna mayo sarnie for lunch.
This arvo Susan does the chicken breasts for our evening dinner, or ‘tea’ as they say in Ince LOL
I will get a good hour and a bit walk in well wrapped up with my i-pod blasting out some decent music.

Mo, I am like you, I love spicy food, my palate doesn't do 'subtle', so I've done another home made curry for this Thursday, Susan is having it too, but she doesn't like too much heat, so I will serve her a portion and then add some chillies.

Well Mo, a very successful day was had.
I got fixed up in M & S. with a really smart mid grey 3 piece suit, with a tailored slim short jacket, pencil slim trousers and matching waistcoat, tres chic LOL.
Best of all was it was very well priced, but wasn’t in the sale which was on.

Well done with the words Mo and Marie.
I suspect Vince is incommunicado this week.
Marie, hope your blood test is OK.

I wonder if Lizzie or Marie can solve it.
The solution is either fruit or vegetables.

The BBC have just shown a weather outside broadcast from Ainley Top in West Yorkshire, it has seen several centimetres of snow, that's where I used to leave the M62 when I was working, I am so glad I don't have to do that journey any more.
I said we weren't venturing from the house today, but if the weather stays constant we may get a local walk in.

A very big hello to everybody.
A bright cloudy cool but not cold day here in Blighty, 8C forecast.
The usual big shop this morning.
This arvo, a trip to the hairdressers for a tuppeny all off LOL
Mo, your comments yesterday about being germophobic made me think about my habits.
I am fairly certain it is not about OCD and just good sensible hygiene, I do wash my hands dozens of times a day.
I suspect your occupation as a nurse educated you to be scrupulous about personal cleanlinesss.

judiciary-jury-juicy-dairy-diary-dray-arid-acrid-curd-

Loads and loads more for Our Mo.
I suspect Marie is on another jolliday out, have a nice one
Vince, keep safe and warm.

Lizzie, I've said it before, your photos on your G+ profile are truly amazing.
Anyone can point a camera and take an 'image', but they are works of art, with the composition, balance, colour and subject matter, you should be very proud.
Thanks for our Tuesday wordage.

Hello all..a couple of degrees warmer today,at last.

Ray of course you're not OCD,and neither am I,as you say it's just sensible
hygiene..I used to bite my nails terrible when I was younger then read if you
realised how many germs are under your fingernails you'd think again..so guess what,I've lovely long tinger nails now, don't know why I hadn't thought
of it myself..I'm always washing my hands and according to my Mam,I was
the same as a child..I keep a good stock of throwaway gloves for when I'm
handling pastry...I find escalator rails must be full of all sorts as are stair
rails in stores,..I told you..I drive myself balmy at times, but it's just common sense.

Well off we go.raid,uric,yard,racy,dura,cray,card,crud,airy,auric.

Marie will be shopping, making up for lost time when it was too cold to
venture out.

Vince I hope it's gone a bit warmer for you too..hope your eye test went
well..I bet you have more words .

Thanks again our Lizzie..I do enjoy looking at your photos..you do seem to
have a lot of lovely flowers and trees etc in your garden too. xx 💜

A belated hello to all.
A very pleasant bright start to the day, but clouded over in the afternoon, 8C.
Well, we’ve done our usual last minute decision thing and been to Boundary Mill in Colne for the day, I didn’t even have time to post and tell you.
We went primarily for wedding things, but ended up buying other stuff.

Items bought :-
Wedding hat/titfer/fascinator, pinkish puce.
Handbag, pinkish puce.
Shirt, white with button down collar.
Tie, reddy maroonish.
Pedal bin, foot operated so you don’t need to touch it with your hands LOL
Set of four ‘Sporks’, a cutlery item which is spoon shaped but with tines cut into the end and also a serrated cutting edge, essentially a spoon, fork and knife in one piece.
The above is mainly for eating my Thursday curry, which requires a knife, fork and spoon.

Well done with the words everybody, I’ve racked me poor old brains but can’t add any more.

Mo, the cryptics are all typed up for 8 o’clock, hope your brain is well oiled LOL

Lizzie, hope your dental appointment went OK, I, like you Lizzie find it uncomfortable, especially when they start irking in between your peggies with a metal doings.
Thanks as ever

A very good hello to all.
A thoroughly damp cloudy day here in Blighty, 10C forecast.
I’m on a little early as we are out doing the ‘big shop’ straight after lunch.
Well. what a nightmare of a morning!!!!!!!!!!!
Yours truly got the car out of the garage to go shopping, opened the front gates on the drive, shut the car engine off, went to open the house front door, house keys disappeared.
We stripped the car out, looked through all my clothes, nothing.
After 40 minutes or so we were despairing, seeing hundreds of pounds in new locks needed.
Long story short, I had made brief check on stuff for the tip in the back garden and there they were on the flags, phew!!!!!!!!!

Mo, I was thinking, maybe in a few weeks you may get to be eating your Magnum in Owd Dave’s front garden again, that will be nice won’t it?

dishcloth-dish-cloth-doth-host-hilt-sloth-oldish(maybe LOL)-litho.

Hopefully I’ve left loads for everybody.
Hope Marie and Vince can join us today.

Just back from doing the ‘big shop’ at Sainsies in Leyth.
I was going to clean the car, but I am b*ggered!!!!!!! LOL, I think the stress of losing the keys this morning and the shopping trip has drained me, so it’s feet up till time to do the tea, it’s my turn today, but Susan washes up, so a good distribution of labour.

Mo, you are showing me up with all your gardening, apart from sweeping the Winter leaves up I have not ventured out there since early October.
Thankfully with all the flagging we had done and bushes and trees uprooted it will be a lot easier to look after this year.
Take care.

A very good day to everybody.
A bright sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 7C, so a little cooler than of late.
A busy morning, been to B & Q for brackets/hooks to hang our gardening stuff on the workshop wall, a job I have to say I've been meaning to do for years.
Anyroad, it will be done this week, and hopefully another step to making our lives more orderly.
This arvo, a walk round Rivvy is on the cards, always enjoy going up there.

Glad you got your computer sorted Marie, I'd be lost without one, thankfully we have a laptop each plus a 'big' desktop PC as well.

Mo, the flagging we had done in our back garden is quite a big area, and at the moment it looks like a council yard, but as you say we will put loads of potted plants and troughs there to green it up.
We are not great 'sitter outers' but we are going to buy some garden furniture as well.

Take care

A cloudy day here in Blighty, 9C, and annoyingly a cold wind has returned.
A quick trip to the butchers this arvo and I'm not budging, totally fed up of this Winter, although it is technically Spring.
I bet you're fed up too Our Mo.
Thank you for your kind wishes everybody, I have passed your words to Susan.
We had a lovely walk round Upper Rivington Reservoir yesterday afternoon, and then bought two pasta ready meals, and a glass of wine, most enjoyable.

Hello all, been back about an hour, boy what a long journey it is..four hours
non stop driving..well Newton Hall is a fantastic venue, our bedrooms for
overnight stay were just out of this world,I feel like setting fire to ours lol..the service was beautiful, the bride...now my Daughter in law looked just
gorgeous,my Son looked handsome of (of course) at last he's found
the perfect one for him, she's lovely.
Then...during the wedding breakfast,Craig a biggest Scottish fellow with a
great kilt on was going round seeing to everyone,he was lovely too..I looked at Cliff,he was pale,I asked him if he was tired, because he'd been
awake since fourish and been driving miles all of a sudden he fell forward, knocked glasses everywhere, was unconscious for seconds, the resident paramedics came he was vomiting got hum outside.Craig thr MC
rang for an ambulance,,took him to a Hospital 50 minutes away waited and waited Cliff being Cliff said he was fine after being tested,we were told it
would be another couple of hours before being see,he signed himself out..the nurse came to tell us the owner of NewtonHall was on the phone.
he said he'd ordered a taxi for us (there was no ambulances available).it cost sixty pounds, everyone was concerned..wanted to take us home in
our car, then someone bring them back..I can't tell you how lovely
everybody was ...this happened some years ago with Cliff, nobody can find anything wrong,he's fine now drove us home..looks like a farmer right now..poor Son been on the phone non stop..but both said it didn't spoil their
day at all..I'll never forget the look on his face when he was out like a light.
Sorry about this news but I have to tell somebody...see you all tomorrow.x

So sorry to here your news Mo.
The main thing is Cliff has been checked over, if there had been anything serious, they would have found it.
From what you say he’s back to normal, and it didn’t detract too much on the big day.
He perhaps needs a bit of TLC for the next few days.

Just for the record, when I was working, I had a period of several years where I was having ‘funny turns’, and occasionally would pass out.
I had loads of tests done including checking for epilepsy, they couldn’t find anything.
The best diagnosis was adrenaline rushes, so they put me on beta blockers.

Apart form your little set back, so glad the day went well.

Take care.

A bright sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 14C forecast for the afternoon.
Well, if ever a case of 'Sods Law' applied this is it.
I've been to the tip this morning with rubbish from the workshop., including some copper pipe which has been in there for decades.
When I got back I decided to clean the car.
When I switched the water on from the stopcock in the garage, the feed pipe had come loose from its fitting.
I couldn't reconnect it, and the best solution is a longer piece of copper pipe!!!!!!!!!!
I could spit LOL

thread about bees,to quote..put marbles in container nearly full with water,
then put some marbles in so the bees can drink without falling in..I thought
I've got loads of marbles, guess what I'd thrown them out so just been
everywhere,eventually found some lol.
And thanks Ray,everything's back to normal now..that was a fair old day,but
lovely to see the lad married and to a lovely girl.

weal.wheat,whit,wail,welt,wealth.

How do Marie,I wonder if Vince has fallen out with us...just hope he's okay.

Thanks our Lizzie, aren't those fires bad in Sydney, good grief but so far no
fatalities,I hope you have more rain at your end..take care.xx💜

Mo, I read the ‘water for bees’ thread, sounds like a very good idea, they need all the help they can get don’t they?

So glad that things are back to normal with Cliff, that must have been a real worry for you, and as you say in every other aspect, the day went well.

very big hello to all.
A cloudy benign miserable day here in Blighty, with a very light bit of mizzle in the air, 13C going to Sainsies in Leyth this morning.
I will continue my clearout of the workshop this arvo.

Enjoy your Magnum at Daves Mo, I can’t remember the last time I had an ice cream, I don’t have a sweet tooth thankfully.
Just a ‘heads up’ Mo , I don’t think you normally go on WR for the Tuesday quiz, but Weatherwax is doing the quiz tonight, so it should be a good one if you fancy some brainwork.

goldfinch-finch-find-fling-folding-inch-dingo-logic-holding-ling-child,

I think Marie is on a jolliday, enjoy your trip out.
I have hopefully left loads more for Our Mo.
Vince, are you back to normal yet?

Lizzie, thanks for the 9 letter yesterday, it didn’t ring true as proper word, but we learn new stuff all the time on here don’t we?
Good luck with the washing, I leave all that to Susan LOL

A belated hello to all.
A lovely sunny day here in Blighty, 22C.
We did our usual spur-of-the-moment decision to go to the Trafford Centre this morning, got back about 4pm, and it was my turn to do the tea, so only just settling down now.
I went for jeans and holiday shirts, but couldn’t find anything in M & S.
We got a wedding card for our Kit.
Three weeks today we leave for North Wales, we’re having a little Wednesday to Wednesday holiday break each side of the wedding, looking forward to it.
We figured it was dodgy to travel down to North Wales on the day of the wedding in case there was any traffic problems.

Hope you got your gardening done Mo.

Well done with the words everybody, I really can’t add to them.
Good to have you back Vince.

Lizzie, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a goldfinch.
We have a family of three buzzards in the woods in front of our house, magnificent creatures, lovely to see them soaring high above on thermals.

I’m going to take it easy this arvo, I’ve slightly done my back in yesterday clearing out the workshop, I obviously don’t want to be bad for the wedding, at the moment it’s not too painful.

Thanks Lizzie. I am ashamed. I have been looking at this for ages. I can't believe you can get 16 words from this.

Ray, don't be doing too much in the garden. As Maureen said, you don't want to be doing your back in for the wedding.

Best wishes everyone. Hope Vince is having a good time.

Hello all, done Asda this a.m. but being a bit lazy right now.
Yes I've found this one difficult, but fun trying to find any.

sonic,nous,osmic,otic,omni,monism.

I've got plenty of green shoots, but it's where the birds keep dropping the
seed that Cliff put in feeders for them,I'm getting a bit fed up of it now.
Mind you it won't make any difference whether I'm fed up of it or not.

Won't be long now Ray before your Daughters big day is here.Hope your
back is okay.

Thanks our Lizzie, aren't the weeks going by quickly.bet you've been out with your secateurs ..I love pruning,I pruned my Wisteria proper last
Autumn and its full of buds,I'm chuffed to death,I've had it for four years,
and it's never flowered before..its my most favourite tree/shrub of all and
at last I'll have those glorious lilac flowers on...happy gardening.xx💜

A belated hello to all.
A cloudy but turned-to-rain day here in North Wales, 14C.
A busy day holiday prepping and packing and loading the car.
We travelled late afternoon, in early rush hour traffic, so it took us ages to get here.
It took ages to suss out the wi-fi, but thankfully it seems to be working.
The blurb in the guests information pack says that the internet is not very good, so I’m hoping I can do the cryptics tonight.
I have done Friday’s quiz but I may need to get somebody to post it up as we have been invited to our Kit’s future in laws for pre wedding drinkypoos on Friday night.

Well done with the words everybody.
I will try to keep in touch as best as I can this coming week.
Mo and Marie, I hope to see you later tonight.

Lizzie, in case I go AWOL look after the notreets won’t you LOL
I bet you can’t wait for your break, it’ll soon be here

A belated hello to all.
A cloudy sunny day here in North Wales, 14C.
A busy afternoon getting familiar with the roads around here.
We’ve done the route to Our Kits in Connah’s Quay, where I will be picked up in a 1930’s Rolls Royce.
Susan will have to drive from Connah’s Quay to Mold Registry Office for the wedding service.
I will then drive us to The Glynne Arms in Hawarden for our wedding meal.

Mo, you’re right when you say only a couple of days, but I have to say, I will be glad when it’s over and we can enjoy a bit of a holiday.

Just to let you know, we have a busy day ahead.

We have to drive to Connah’s Quay after lunch to pick our Kit up and take her to The Glynne Arms in Hawarden, where we are having our reception.
She has made her own Wedding cake ((she is a good baker like Susan) and we are
delivering the cake ready for Saturday.
Then we will go over our driving routes again for tomorrow, Susan has to do one of the journeys on her own, and she is a little nervous, I tend to do most of the driving on a normal day and of course she is on new territory.

We have been invited to our Kit’s future in-laws tonight for pre-wedding drinks. I’m hoping Susan will drive, otherwise I will be sober LOL.
Just to let you know Mo and Marie, I have done the Friday night quiz, which I will not be able to post, but I have got weatherwax to act as quizmaster tonight, which I’m very pleased that she has helped me out.

Take care everyone and have a nice day.
