The Smiths Ltd
Date: 8th September 2018
Details:  The Smiths Ltd was formed in Manchester, UK the hometown of The Smiths.

After an extensive search to find the perfect Morrissey, the band played their first gig in Manchester to an audience of avid Smiths fans. The response was spectacular and the band now plays at venues and festivals all over the UK.

If you never saw The Smiths then this is your chance to experience the thrill of those great songs played live. If you were lucky enough to see them first time around then prepare to relive that excitement again.

Committed to getting the same energy that Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce had onstage together, the band are also obsessed about getting that live sound just right.

With an authenticity and provenance that’s hard to beat The Smiths Ltd are the ultimate tribute.

The Smiths meant everything to a generation… To us they still do.

“Brilliant Smiths tribute band, they are amazing!” – Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets)

“The Smiths Ltd are a class act. They are indistinguishable from The Smiths.” – North West End

“I may have missed The Smiths the first time around, but after last night’s show I felt that I was really there back in 1983!” – The Hype Media.

Abigail's Party
Date: 13th September 2018
Details:  Doors: 7.00pm / Onstage: 7.30pm

Let us take you back to a spring evening in April 1977: Abba are number one in the charts, Red Rum wins the Grand National for the third time, the Queen begins her Silver Jubilee celebrations and 15-year old Abigail throws a party. To escape the loud music and teenage angst Abigail’s mum, Susan takes refuge with Beverly and Laurence, her middle-class neighbours. As the gin and tonic and Bacardi and coke flows, good-will, clichés and small-talk turn into quarrels, squabbles and chaos as tensions rise and the Suburbia dream is shattered.

From the pen of Mike Leigh Abigail’s Party will take you to a simpler time and have you chuckling into your Pina Colada.

*Please Note – Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash
Date: 22nd September 2018
Details:  Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash

Autumn Tour 2018

Featuring full performance of “Wishbone Ash: The First Album (1970)”….plus more

Fresh from sold-out 2017 shows during which they performed Wishbone Ash’s seminal 1972 album Argus in its entirety, and following hot on the heels of a Spring 2018 tour featuring 1974’s There’s the Rub, Martin Turner and his band return to the concert stages in Autumn 2018 to perform another classic album from the vintage years of Wishbone Ash – 1970’s iconic Wishbone Ash debut album.

Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton, who arrived in London in 1969 to embark on their musical journey. Intent on creating a musical sound that was rich in texture and melody, Martin Turner envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark and guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now legendary Melody Maker advert. The partnership of the original line-up of Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that would produce some of rock music’s best loved works and influencing numerous successful bands, resulting in millions of album sales and concert attendances. Wishbone Ash would become one of the most enduring and best loved British rock acts – its name synonymous with high quality guitar-driven melodic rock music.

Over four decades later, the enduring music of the classic marks of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of recorded work that continues to be enjoyed by fans old and new. Classic album releases such as Wishbone Ash, Argus, Pilgrimage, There’s the Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound and have touched the hearts of several generations of music fans. As lead vocalist and key creative force, founding original member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums, with his passionate vocal delivery, songwriting ability, keen melodic sense and production values being a key ingredient in the definitive Wishbone Ash sound. Martin Turner continues to perform the band’s best loved works with his current line-up, which features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and drummer Tim Brown.

In recent years Martin Turner has delighted audiences worldwide with his performances of material from the classic periods of Wishbone Ash’s history. Martin’s 2018 touring continues his exploration of the Wishbone Ash catalogue and coincides with the release of a deluxe 30-disc Wishbone Ash career retrospective CD boxed-set entitled The Vintage Years 1970-1991 (Snapper Music) as well as Martin Turner’s 2016-recorded 2CD/DVD package The Beauty Of Chaos – Live at the Citadel. The Autumn 2018 tour shows shall feature classic tracks from the extensive Wishbone Ash repertoire, as well as new music that remains true to the original Wishbone Ash style plus, of course, a full performance of Wishbone Ash.

Released in December 1970, the debut Wishbone Ash album contained an eclectic mix of progressive rock, hard-rock, blues, jazz and folk influences with the band’s pioneering twin guitar harmonies resplendent throughout. Unlike many bands who developed an identifiable style across the course of several albums, the still youthful Wishbone Ash set the blueprint with their first offering. Featuring stage favourites such as “Blind Eye”, “Lady Whiskey” and album-closing tour-de-force “Phoenix”, the album received rave reviews from the music media with legendary broadcaster John Peel proclaiming “I haven’t been so impressed with a relatively new band for a long time. Their music is original, exciting and beautifully played.” The album’s appeal has endured five decades of musical change and remains a firm favourite with fans of the band and the classic rock genre.

It is anticipated that fans will be enthralled by these “vintage album” tours, the likes of which have been so successful for other classic bands. Further vintage album tours are likely in the future – a genuine last opportunity to hear these much-loved works performed live and in full.
