The Doors Alive Plus Guests
Date: 6th May 2017
Details:  The Doors Alive are the No.1 tribute band to the legendary, Sixties, Californian rock guru's - The Doors.

They re-create the sound, look, presence and feel of a real 1960's Doors concert perfectly and effortlessly, transporting the crowd back in time with such classic hits as 'Light My Fire', 'When The Music's Over, Riders On The Storm, The End and many more. The singer, Willie, captures the attitude, look and voice of the late, great Jim Morrison, and the other band members have honed the other Doors members playing styles note for note.

To achieve that authentic Sixties sound, the band use the very same instruments that members of the Doors originally used. These include a vintage Fender Rhodes Bass keyboard, a vintage Vox Continental keyboard and a vintage Gibson S.G guitar.

Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult and seated on the balcony upstairs.

Doors: 7:30pm

Classic Rock Society Presents: Magenta
Date: 13th May 2017
Details:  Magenta are very excited to announce that they’ll be returning to the Citadel during their biggest-ever sequence of gigs in Spring 2017. The concert will coincide with the release of the band's as-yet-unnamed seventh studio album to hit shelves in April 2017, their first since the release of the acclaimed "Twenty Seven Club" in 2013. The album will - as usual - feature the award-winning talents of Rob Reed (keyboards, bass, guitar), Christina Booth (vocals) and Chris Fry (lead guitar) alongside guest drummer Andy Edwards (IQ, Kiama, Frost*). The album will also see the band returning to long-form material with two 20 minute epics.

Rob Reed says:

"We haven't played live a huge amount in the last couple of years, so it will be great to get back on the road for an extended series of dates and play pieces from the new album alongside some of our older material."

The band will also release a DVD "Live at Leamington Spa" on November 12th, and will launch the DVD with a special acoustic show at Acapela Studios in Cardiff on the same day.

2017 marks the 15th anniversary of Magenta as a live act, an award winning career which has seen the band play in UK, Europe and America at events such as Baja Prog (Mexico-2003), Rosfest (USA-2005), IO Pages Fest (Netherlands - 2006), Nearfest (USA-2007), Summers End (UK - 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014), Night of the Prog (Germany - 2008) Celebr8 (UK - 2012) and Verona Prog (Italy - 2012).

What people have said about Magenta's live performances:

"Flawless" - Prog Magazine

"A Stunning Performance" - Where Worlds Collide

"Will linger long in the memory" - Fireworks

Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash
Date: 14th May 2017
Details:  Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton. Intent on creating a musical sound that was rich in texture and melody, Martin Turner envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark and guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now legendary Melody Maker advert. The partnership of the original line-up of Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that would produce some of rock music's best loved works and influence numerous successful bands and result in millions of album sales and concert attendances.

The enduring music of the classic marks of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of recorded work. Classic album releases such as Argus, Pilgrimage, There’s the Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound and have touched the hearts of several generations of music fans. As lead vocalist and key creative force, founding original member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums and he continues to perform the band’s best loved works with his current line-up, which features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and drummer Tim Brown.

In recent years Martin Turner has delighted audiences worldwide with his performances of material from the classic periods of Wishbone Ash’s history.

2015 saw Martin Turner and his band moving forwards with new original studio material for the critically acclaimed and award-winning Written in the Stars album (What’s On magazine ‘Album of the Year’ 2015), which was followed by a busy period of touring during which a live 2CD/DVD The Beauty of Chaos - Live at the Citadel was recorded in St. Helens for release in Spring 2017.

The Beauty of Chaos - Live Dates 2017 tour will feature classic album tracks and stage favourites from the extensive Wishbone Ash repertoire, as well as new music that remains true to the original Wishbone Ash blueprint.

“I have had a wonderful time over the past few years re-discovering the wider Wishbone Ash catalogue and taking this to the people. When I go to see an artist live, I want to hear the songs as I remember them from the records and I believe that is true of the Wishbone Ash audience too.”

The Songs of Leonard Cohen 1934 - 2016
Date: 20th May 2017
Details:  This wonderful Tower of Songs - stripped back and desolate.

Enigmatic and sub textural, songwriter Leonard Cohen was an unflinching character, with an exact sense of prose, a wry humour and courage to wrestle with the unspoken, forgiving human frailty with the brush of each line.

His music befriended an entire generation and so the announcement of his passing has truly marked the end of an era. He challenged us to listen more carefully, speak more thoughtfully, think more deeply and recognize our own humanity... A Man of Grace. This world will miss him very much..

With a reputation of performing in this exact way and with an undying love of the ‘pure song’ Keith James gives you a concert of Cohen’s amazing material in an intimate and sensitive style, exposing the solitary inner strength of his greatest songs in their original perfect form.

Amongst a concert of Cohen’s well known songs, including Famous Blue Raincoat, Sisters of Mercy, Suzanne and Hallelujah are also poems by Federico Garcia Lorca that Keith James has set to music. Lorca is said to be Cohen’s greatest influence. Additionally, songs from Leonard Cohen’s Album ‘You want it Darker’ released only 10 days before his death – produced by his son, Adam.

‘Some of the most atmospheric and emotive music you will ever hear’ The Independent

‘Keith James has become a pillar of trust. A sublimely intimate and engaging voice’ Sunday Times

‘an elegant and beautifully crafted reinterpretation of a great Artist’s words’ BBC Radio Scotland

‘certainly the UK’s most celebrated and evocative interpreter of golden music’ The Guardian

‘All the tears of time are shed in a few brief lines’ Times Literary Supplement

‘a sensitive and pleasingly understated delivery, all the better that the songs might speak for themselves’ Acoustic Magazine

Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult and seated on the balcony upstairs.

Doors: 7:30pm

Tickets: £15
