The Floyd Effect
Date: 25th March 2017
Details:  Having toured since 2007, The Floyd Effect has become rightly renowned for the remarkable accuracy with which it performs the iconic music of Pink Floyd. All of the band’s members are top quality musicians with pedigrees that stretch across all manner of musical genres, and they faithfully recreate the music and intensity of a Pink Floyd concert without recourse to backing tracks, racks of computers, or other technological wizardry. Every note that you hear is played and sung by the band, making each concert a genuine live experience, which is also powerful, immersive and emotional. Furthermore, the music is supported by a dramatic light show that incorporates the iconic circular screen, two sets of projections, smoke and lasers.

Performing in small to medium-sized theatres across the country, The Floyd Effect’s concerts are far more intimate than stadium events, with genuine interaction between the band and its audience. But when the opportunity arises, The Floyd Effect can also step out onto the biggest stages and, having headlined the world’s largest tribute festival last year, the band has shown that it’s as comfortable interacting with audiences of thousands as it is in the more comfortable surroundings of the theatre circuit.

Performing its “Dark Side and Beyond” tour, The Floyd Effect wants to take you on a musical journey from the Dark Side of the Moon, through Wish You Were Here and Animals to The Wall, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and all the way to the Division Bell.

Unless you were there the first time round, the music of Pink Floyd was never as real as this.

Strangefish & This Wnter Machine
Date: 8th April 2017
Details:  Manchester progressive rock band Strangefish have been in existence (off and on) for twenty-five years now, since their initial formation in 1989. Inspiring an unswervingly loyal cult following along the way, the band took two periods of hiatus, from 1996-2000 and from 2008-2012, at which latter point a supposed one-off reunion gave rise to the latest phase of their existence.

Still featuring the original musicians Steve Taylor (vocals) and Paul O’Neil (keyboards) from that very first line-up, most of the line-up is unchanged from that of 2000. Since being augmented by female vocals, in the shape of drummer Dave Whittaker’s wife Jo, the band’s superbly melodic prog sound has been given a new harmonic dimension. They are finishing off a new album, which already sounded great when they previewed some material at the Summers End Festival last year.

Their recorded output only tells half the story, however, as the band approach live work with a tremendous sense of fun and showmanship. Go to http://www.strangefish.co.uk/ to hear samples of their work.

Support comes from superb new rising prog band This Winter Machine, who have recently released their exceptional debut album The Man Who Never Was, fresh from an acclaimed tour supporting Magnum. Check out some music here: https://www.thiswintermachine.com/gallery-media

The New Today is a record that sums up the Cenacle journey, past, present and future.
