Well done to Marie.
A middleish word count today, so loads more for Our Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, forgot to say that on Monday night we went to see the Springs Pit Memorial stone which is in the churchyard at All Saints.
It is in memory of the Springs Colliery disaster at Hindley Green the 26th November 1868, where 62 men and boys lost their lives, 42 of them were buried in All Saints churchyard.
Hindley History Society raised nearly £3000 towards the cost of erecting it.
It is a simple sandstone slab the size of a small gravestone.

The inscription reads a s follows:-

“To the glory of God and in memory of
those 62 men and boys who were
killed in the explosion at
Springs Colliery Hindley Green
On 26th November 1868
And of whom 42 are buried
In this churchyard”

Thanks for our midweek wordage and take care.
