Yes priscus, I have had the same info from a member of the Model Railway Forum (RM Web) that I also have a Wallgate thread running on. However I have decided to invoke Rule 1 of Railway Modelling to wit "It's my layout, I'll do what I like" or as is also used "Modellers Licence" it's a bit like Poetic Licence but more 'physical'.
Besides all that drivel, I really prefer the look and appeal of the old boxes compared to the concrete bunkers that replaced them. I had already started building a model of the old "Southport Junction Box" rather than the Pill Box that was installed around the same time as the others.
As at one time I was (still am) considering featuring Meadows Colliery opposite Prescot St. Shed that probably closed down 30 or 40 years before when the layout is set. I figure the Signal Boxes lasting another 7 or 8 years before being replaced isn't stretching credibility too far.
Any ideas re the Sets in the Coal yard area off Wallgate ?
