Today marks the 117th anniversary of our maiden FA Cup triumph in the 1904 FA Cup final over Bolton Wanderers which ensured that we became THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CLUB FROM THE CITY OF MANCHESTER TO WIN A MAJOR HONOUR.

In January 2021, City became custodians of the cup that we lifted all those years ago, when His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed purchased the trophy at auction.

On behalf of the City of Manchester, thank you Sheikh Mansour, the saviour of English football.

It is the oldest surviving piece of cup silverware in England, and has since been loaned to the National Football Museum in Manchester, to ensure it remains accessible for football fans to visit and enjoy.
