The title of Gillian Jones's useful book, Lancashire Professional Photographers 1840-1940, prompts me to ask whether anyone with connections in the Wigan area has photographs that date from the times when cartes de visite became common (the 1860s) or even earlier. Are there old Wigan portrait photographs out there which are known to have been taken in the 1850s or early 1860s?
