I was there from 1970 to 1977. First two years as the WGS after that MHS. To this day I still say I went to WGS since I had passed my eleven plus.
Played on the 1st XV at rugby and the 1st XI at cricket.
Amongst those there, some of who I still see, were Phil Gough retired policeman see him regularly at rugby ,Mick Kearns retired teacher not seen for couple of years. Peter Layland worked for council and his older brother David was with one of the banks, Phil Charnock and his wife Gwen had their own photography business. Paul Rutter couple years above us but see him regular at golf club retired policeman his son ended up working with me for a few years. Simon Bennett went working and living in USA never came back, goughie keeps in touch. Ian chip Jeffrey played rugby for Lancashire and League for Leigh, used to play cricket at WCC with him and the Leylands
The teachers there when I was who I can remember, in no particular order

Wm (Walter) Armstrong - accounts
Sam Tarbuck - economics. Spent all time on parents evening talking to my dad about their days at WGS both there at same time.
Geoff (dicky) Dykes - history and form master. Still see him at rugby matches. Used to take rugby and once drop kicked ball down corridor into classroom.
Bernard (dilly) Stock - Latin organised train trips then disappeared to pub
Dave Johnson - Latin
Bill Gapes - xxxxhouse -geography. Used to barge in 6th form common room as though he owned the place. If you weren’t keen on geography automatically put you in cse group.
Jem Hall - geography. Dished punishment out with chair leg called Clarence and gym pump called Rupert
Ken Naylor -maths
Bill Morgan -music
T Cooper - woodwork
Jasper Melling -metalwork. Once got locked in metal workshop cupboard.
Graham (Dixie)Dean - physics. Saw him abt 18 mths ago at sportsman dinner at golf club. Still mad on cricket and heavily involved with Norley Hall CC
(Wormo) Worthington - physics
Paddy Gore - biology
Mick Gray - chemistry
Bill Woodcock - pe
Sue Thomas - p e girls. She was rumoured to have had a fling with another PE teacher can’t remember who but thing he played rl for Salford
Ma Jolley -french. best french teacher
Colin Taylor - french. typical Yorkshireman.
Reg Faugier - french typical Frenchman arrogant
Maggie Woosey - English
Janet Hignett - maths
Christine Makin - English
Wintersgill - English
Holland - English think he went to South Africa
Ma Edwards - English horrible little b@@@@
Withington - female hippy art teacher
Vera Pilling - girls dep head big fat woman didn’t want know ex grammar lot.
Jack Sharratt - dep head hard man dished it out sooner than look at you
George Merriman - head. Not over top on corporal punishment not bad bloke.
Bas Boardman. - decent bloke
Eric Jones - biology
Robinson - p e. Used to stand there watching you go through showers. Everyone thought he was queer. Graham Dean told me he’d had three kids and went living in U S A
Jim Ainsworth - chemistry
Ken Knapman - chemistry , once through board duster at someone because they asked was there a p in Litmus.
