Think you are correct Brian regarding the houses across from St Peter's School. In the 90s there was a Chinese food takeaway which was the front room of the house. It was demolished along with next door in the mid/late 90s. I know this because my daughter worked there. Catterall's chippy was lower down near Booths Brow Road. There was also the shop near there which was owned at one time by John Newbiggin (girls band conductor) and his wife, probably the one you say Glen had.
