Two cowboys escaped from the Indians but found themselves lost in the desert.
After a couple of days they were starving, when one of the cowboys spotted a tree full of bacon in the distance.
They both ran towards the bacon tree shouting "a bacon tree, we're saved, we're saved"!
When they got to the tree, they fell to a hail of arrows from a nearby ridge and were killed.

You see, it wasn't a bacon tree at all. It was a ham bush!
