They are hot if you toast them and very nice they are too.
Good Friday menu for me was.
Breakfast. Hot cross buns
Lunch. Home made veg soup.
Tea. Home cooked. Fish, chips and mushy peas.

There is no sacrifice in abstaining from eating meat on Good Friday. It's respect for the sacrifice that Jesus endured to save us.
If you are a non believer it would mean nothing to you. But Easter is the biggest religious event in the Catholic Church.
