To answer your questions, Platty.
St.Cuthberts was a primary school, no nuns taught there but some of the teachers were pretty handy with their canes, mostly for very minor misdemeanors.
My secondary school was St.Thomas More. The head mistress was a nun and there were several other nuns who taught there too. Only two of the teachers had a cane, one was the headmistress and the other was deputy head, Miss Horracks..
In all my years there, there were very few pupils who were caned at all.
I always found the head mistress, sister Rose, to be a strict but fair head teacher.

I didn't live near Wrenbury Close. In fact I have no idea where that is. I hope this answers your questions
