General (General discussion, talk about anything.)
If I came across as a little arrogant I apologise, but my point was, surely it's just as easy to write things correctly as it is to write them incorrectly. Fair enough, not everyone's spelling or use of the English language is 100% (whose is?) but sometimes I read posts with no punctuation and find them hard going. The whole point of us being able to use our OWN language properly is so that we are understood by others. I agree with Tonker. It's all well and good some of us coming on here and writing in dialect - nowt wrong wi' that - because we are, in the main, all Wiganners, but if a Geordie or Brummie came on and wrote in their dialect we'd tell them to write correctly if they want to be understood. Serious question. Do teachers insist on good grammar in schools today? I mean written and spoken. When I was at school the use of a dialect was frowned upon and in English class written work had to be spot on. I ask this because I'd heard that they're not marked on spelling etc, these days, so long as they can write it down.
