Said on TV just that they capture around three times the power (electricity) which they consume to operate.

Well great, BUT...

Currently, my leccy costs more than three times my gas per KWH.

You are only going to save if you can get your leccy at a favourable price: who knows what it will cost in long term. Looking at historical fuel price comparisons does not fill me with optimism.
