Wigan Building Preservation Trust certainly think some historic buildings are in jeopardy, Admin.

Part of their objection to the redevelopment - Wed 14 Jul:

“In the immediate vicinity are a number of original Victorian and Georgian buildings which have lain empty for a number of years … These buildings represent some of our 'heritage at risk' and should be renovated and re-purposed as the first priority.

The Planning Departments Prospectus suggests that the New Market Street properties, some of which are Council owned, are candidates for demolition.

The Council's Planning and Heritage objectives appear to be disconnected.“
