I do not believe Scotland is the issue but Nicola Sturgeon. She isn't going to stop until she gets what she wants.
If she gets her way, she's going to claim right to everything which is profitable for Scotland and cast off everything which is not.
What she fails to acknowledge is, the EU aren't greatly interested in having Scotland without the rest. They have no wish to divide areas which are viewed as being as one, such as Britain (or UK). Dividing lands might be an issue. A divided Britain may result in other countries having issues. There are social conflicts in other countries, such as: Spain, France and Germany, to name a few.
