broady yes in the 80s you would have flown into Ovda. it was a old military base... About the divers patrolling there is a net along the border just under the water line and an Egyptian boat ....And yes you can see the lights from Saudi Arabia at night... There is now a new airport open 2years ago with planes coming from Europe it's a pity that when you were here there was not yet peace with Jorden you could have visited Petra what is just over the border.
