I think you were fobbed off, because the trackbed is unchanged from when they removed the station, so to say that it would cost millions to relay the track, and if the inactive span needed replacing, that would not cost millions, for me it looks to be a straightforward job

If you look at the Golborne Station set up, that looks like it would be a far more complicated job to put a station back there.
