I just don't get the Standish thing at all, in terms of snobbery, I can understand the Wigan Lane thing, and the Wigan Road thing, that is that I can understand snobs wanting to live in the posh houses on Wigan Lane and Wigan Road, but the grandeur ends on Wigan Road at the Grove Lane junction.

The centre of Standish is just a row of terraced shops, it is just an old pit village, which also had a bomb factory in it

St Wilfs Church is nice.

But why are folk prepared to pay twice the amount for a house in Standish, than they would for the equivalent house in Platt Bridge ?

Areas to the South of Wigan are far posher than Standish, as are areas to the North of Standish,

Standish is too posh, as Skelmersdale is too Scouse, in that folk who live in Skelmersdale think that they are Scousers, but they are not Scousers, the same way that folk who buy expensive houses in Standish think that they are posh, when the truth of the matter is that they have bought an overpriced house on the site of an old bomb factory, they are pseudo posh
