Westwood House

Does anyone know the exact location of the ancient Westwood House and when it was demolished. People keep directing me to Westwood Hall, which isn't the same building. It was owned by the Walmesley family and was quite a big building as they employed servants and also had a chapel attached. Ron Hunt has put a very good photo of it on here from an old postcard but it is wrongly labelled Hall instead of house.

I was studying old maps to find it but none showed it. These were only as far back as 1888-1913, which suggests that the house was demolished before either the start or end of the OS survey.
However, I have manages to find a six-inch 1842-52 map this morning and that shows the House precisely where you have indicated.

A friend of mine lived relatively close to it and an acquaintance of mine actually bought Westwood Hall. So, I know the area!

The area has changed quite a lot since the power station and cooling towers came down, plus the new road. The old map shows formal gardens (possibly kitchen gardens) and a huge area of parkland.
