diet, duet, dope, adieu, dupe, date,

Thanks Lizzie. It rained hard over the weekend and there were floods all over including part of
Robin Park Retail Park at Newtown. Was that there when you lived here. I think The River Douglas had overflowed.

Best wishes everyone and have a good day.

A very good Monday to all.
It really is good to be back.
I’ve been catching up with all of last week’s postings.

A wonderful week was had.
The weather was very good to us, , apart from Sunday which was a little damp, it was sunny with an ever present breeze, which kept the temperatures in the low twenties, just perfect.
If you Google ‘Little Laight Cairnryan’ and click on ‘www.lochryancottages.co.uk’,
then ‘watch video’, you can see how lovely a cottage it is.

We are back down to earth now, this arvo walk round Rivvy.

Mo, we were sat on the promenade at Portpatrick and a lady walked past clutching a little Chihuahua in her arms, I suspect because of the heat and the fact it only had little legs, it was easier to carry it, anyroad, I thought of you.

idea-data-audit-adept-adapt-audio-paid-edit.

Well done to Marie, you always start us off.
Loads more for Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, Hiya, thanks for looking after the ‘notreets’ while I was away!!!!!!! LOL
Good of you to start a new thread. I can quickly scroll up / down on my lappy by using the ‘Home’ and ‘End’ keys, I bet you can’t do that with an ipad.
Hope your Winter weather is behaving for you.
Thanks as ever.

A very good day to everybody.
A cloudy bright morning, heavy downpours forecast for this arvo, 21C.
A busy morning sorting some electrical problems with our upstairs lights.
Our usual big shop at Leyth this arvo.
We’re having a ‘lazy’ ready meal tonight, still in holiday mode LOL

Mo, bet you’re round at Daves today, enjoy your Magnum (or Asda’s equivalent LOL).

licked-liked-deck-deli-dill-held-chilled.

Well done to Marie, for starting us off., you got the 9 letter, well done.
Not a high word count today, hopefully more for Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, we drive through Standish from time to time, the infrastructure has remained unchanged, but there is an awful lot of building gone on.
On Rectory Lane they have built a massive estate of hundreds of quite high end detached houses, very nice, but, no new roads, so the area is a real ‘bottle neck’.
That said, it’s the same where we live in Howfen, lots of new houses, no new roads.
C’est la vie.
Thanks for our Tuesday wordage, you’re a Star.

A very good day to everybody.
A cloudy sunny day here in Blighty, 22C forecast.
Well, what a morning!!!!!!
I fitted a new power switch to our en-suite shower.
What a bl**dy fiddly job!!!!!!!
I had to fit 6 wires into 6 holes, how hard could that be?
I had no room to work in, the wires were only just free of the wall.
Two hours and twenty minutes later, job done.
Long story short, when you switch the power on you get water, but the switch on the shower cubicle itself does't work, ie the water is permanently on, so frustrating.

We are going for a local walk this arvo to burn off my nervous energy LOL , I'm in no fit state to drive.

Thanks Lizzie. The sun is out at the moment but I don't think it is a good forecast. We have had nothing compared to some places in Yorkshire. It showed you a farm on tv this morning. About 80 sheep had escaped from one farm including all the lambs born this year which were worth a fortune.

A very good day to all.
Another cloudy bright morning, 23C forecast.
A busy morning brewing some Rose wine and going to the ‘tip’ at little Hulton.
This arvo a change to our normal routine,
We’re a bit disillusioned with Sainsbury’s fresh produce, mainly shortages, lack of choice, and poor quality of some stuff, so we’re going to Tescos at Horwich for a veggie and fruit shop.

Mo, what a shame with little Gizzy, it must be a little daunting for him to see a ‘huge’machine like a hoover making so much noise, I’m sure he’ll get used in time.

shirt-such-rich-richest-itch-itchier-chest-cushier.

Well done to Marie, for starting us off.
What a good away win for the Warriors last night.
A medium-ish word count today, hopefully more for Mo and Vince.
Hope you can get some relief from the heat Vince.

Lizzie, good to know that Keith is being looked after, I’m sure you have excellent health care in Oz, just as we do here.
As for global warming, I’m well aware that it IS happening, but I’m of the opinion that it is not fully attributable to mankind.
In the past our Earth has undergone shifts in weather patterns.
In the middle ages, the weather was much warmer than it is today, there were vineyards in Yorkshire.
Then later on, up to the early 1800’s we had a mini ice age, the winters were so cold that the Thames froze over and they held frost fairs on it.
I seem to have prattled on a bit today!!!!!!
Thanks for our wordage, you’re a Star.

it's nature doing its own thing as it always does..re- Gizzie,I don't switch the

A pleasant cloudy sunny day here in Blighty, 22C forecast.
I managed to get my lawns cut this morning.
The grass was a little damp, so didn't cut too well., anyroad it's done.

Mo, I had my heart attack when I was 64, about 6 months before I was due to retire.
I had taken a day off work to work in the garden, cutting hedges.
Later that night I started with chest pains, I went upstairs for a lie down, typical man trying to ignore it LOL.
I eventually went downstairs and Susan rang for an ambulance straight away. she saved my life.
I was given superb treatment at the Royal Manchester Infirmary, and had a stent fitted.
I learned much later that the survival rate for a heart attack is 50%, thank goodness I didn't know that at the time.

I was going to ‘edge’ my lawns, but the strimmer cable ran out and I’ve had to order a new one.
This arvo our usual big shop on Leyth.

Mo, I think the passing of your brother affected you deeply, just as me when I lost my mum and dad within 12 months, a dark and distressing side of my past which I wouldn’t wish on anybody.
On a brighter note, have a lovely afternoon with Dave.

Lizzie, I hope you get good news tomorrow with Keith’s diagnosis.
The medication that is available today will keep things under control.
I take a beta blocker to slow the heart beat down, an asprin to thin the blood, a statin to lower cholesterol, and a drug called Irbesartan which opens up the blood vessels.
With my exercise regime and diet, I think I am in better health than when I was working 7 years ago.
Thanks for our daily wordage, it is appreciated.

Thanks Lizzie. So glad your husband is well.

Raining hard early this morning then the sun came out and it's dull now but ok.

Thought about you yesterday Ray when I went past Amberswood going to Leigh. Have you been walking there recently.

Maureen, thanks for your good wishes. I do feel better.

Vince, Maureen mentioned about a Brew, meaning open land. Do you remember the Brew going to St Joseph's school. We used to walk from Wallgate across the Brew to St Joseph's.

Best wishes everyone and have a good day.

A very good day to everybody.
A wet start to the day, but thankfully has dried up for now, 19C forecast with 46% chance of rain this arvo.
A busy morning doing domestics.
This arvo is weather dependent, a trip to Wigan seems most likely.

Mo, losing my mum and dad was probably the worst point in my whole life.
My mum had a long and difficult struggle with liver cancer.
Thankfully my dad passed away peacefully I found him sat on the couch in his pyjamas waiting for his pan to boil for a bedtime brew.

twine-viewer-write-were-wren-wine-review.

Well done to Marie.
Marie, we don’t seem to walk round Amberswood so much these days.
Two reasons, it tends to get very overgrown in Summer, but mainly because people walk their dogs round there, and they are out of control and jump up at you, really annoys me that.
A mediumish word count again today, so hopefully more for Mo and Vince.
Are you golfing this week Vince?

Lizzie, hope your visit to the specialist goes OK.
Keith is in good hands and seems to be taking a similar medication to me.
Big thanks for our wordage.

All went well with the specialist...Keith just continues on with the extra medication ...the thinking is that this is more to do with reflux than heart ...and the medication will also help with the spasms in his oesophagus that feel like a heart attack...this surprised me ....the body don’t half trick you 😊
Anyway he goes back in a year...if the attacks continue and become more frequent, Keith will have an angiogram....just to make sure....all the tests he has had have come back negative to heart attack...😊

Yes ...it is a great relief that it wasn’t a heart attack....he still has a bit if a leaky aortic valve ...but the echo test showed that it has not got any worse...he just has to realise he is not superman anymore and at 70 he should be taking it a bit easier...🤨

Mo, I bet you’ve had Gizzy out for his morning walk, hope you can get an afternoon walk in.

There is no need to reply, but if you do, I may not reply straight away as we are off the Rivvy for the afternoon.

I might go to Chorley this afternoon. Lizzie, was Chorley market going when you lived here. Marks and Spencer in Wigan is closing and they are moving to a few new places and one of them is Chorley and they are building it right near the bus station.

Best wishes everyone and have a good day.

we were near to home and he ran all the way home and was sat on the
step when we got there..so he has a stronger harness now.,never again

"ray, why have you stopped posting on WR. Can you put us out of our misery and how did you know Mac had falling out with eront.-"

I stopped posting because of Mac banning Eront/Admin.
I later posted about Eront/Admin being banned by Mac.
About an hour ago Mac made me inactive on WR.
I have just deleted my account.
If anybody tries to find me now they will see a guest post which means banned.

I'm not sure as to the exact nature of Mac and Eront's disagreement, but Mac thought it serious enough to ban her.

To the right of the word ‘Profile’ is typed ‘You have no new messages’.

Click on that and you will have a new page.

Up at the top left you will see ‘NEW PM’.

Click on that and you will get a message box.

Type in the username you want to contact and a subject title and then type a message.

www.XXXXX-peers.XXXXXXXXXX.com

This will take you to the 'Home Page'.

Look up at the top just underneath the photo of Wigan Pier and you will see a ' log in' sign.

Click 'Log in' and fill in your username and password.

This will take you to back to the 'Home Page', but this time it will show you have logged in.

Then simply pick on a topic such as 'Talk of the Town'or 'Discussions' and you can see what people are posting, or do a post yourself.

You only need to use the 'Home' button if you are in a topic and want to get back to the 'Home Page'.
It is just under the photo of Wigan Pier top left of page.

We take everything apart from the kitchen sink!!!!! LOL

We are traveling to Springholm which is near Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway.
It’s about 4 hours drive, so we will have lunch at home and set off at around 12-30.
Our property is called Barncailzie Lodge.
It’s our first time there, so we’re hoping it is OK.
You can see it on ‘www.scottish-cottages.co.uk’.

I won’t have time to do the words today sorry for that.
We have wi-fi so hopefully I’ll be able to do ‘the words’ next week.
Have a great weekend and ‘see’ you Monday.

This arvo a walk round Rivvy, hoping we can beat the rain.

Well I have caught up with all your last week’s posts, and you had a good week.
We were promised wi-fi at our holiday property but I couldn’t post on Wigan World or Wigan Peers.
A lovely restful week was had at our holiday retreat near Castle Douglas, we hope to return in the future.

Hope you’ve got your garden tidy Mo.

Marie, I probably did go there, but just can’t remember doing so ..🤔

Our Maureen...the only problem with spring is it gives me the odd fit of sneezes ..❤️xx

Authorities are saying it has been our driest winter in 90 years ...towns in NSW are running out of water...of course they are blaming the government for not putting the infrastructure in place to cope with this tragedy ...pipelines should have been built ...and they haven’t...sad state if affairs.
At least here in SA we have the Murray pipeline transporting water to our towns in the country...👍

Really enjoy being in WP ...easy to get around on there ..😊👍

A cloudy morning here, only 16C is forecast with an 88% chance of rain mid afternoon.
A busy morning racking some Chardonnay, I wish Susan wouldn’t sup so much!!!!!!!! LOL, …………..the truth is she doesn’t drink at all.
The weather may decide what we do this arvo, if it’s wet we’ll have a trip to Bents Garden Centre if the rain holds off, we’ll get a walk in, probably up Rivvy.

Mo, I’m looking forward to doing the Wednesday Cryptic Crosswords tonight on WP, I hope our regulars come on and maybe a few new WP members.

A big hello to everybody.
A bright cloudy day here in Blighty, 18C is forecast
A busy morning cleaning the car and holiday prepping, this arvo a haircut.

Mo, we all LOVE hearing about Gizzy, don’t stop posting about him.

We have a busy morning tomorrow, packing and getting ready for the holidays.
I’ll try and ‘pop on’ if I can, if not I’ll ‘see’ you next week.
We are up in The Lakes at a property we went to last year.
Google ‘The Coach House, White Moss near Grasmere’.
The house was owned by William Wordsworth, who bought it for his son.
We thankfully have wi-fi, so I will be able to keep in touch next week.

afire-fish-fisher-fresh-fashion-fair-fries-sheaf-infer-

As ever well done to Marie, and NJ for getting the 9 letter.
Good result for the Warriors last night Marie.

A middle-ish word count today but I’m sure Our Mo can get loads more.
Hope Vince is enjoying his break, it seems he doesn’t have t’internet.

Lizzie, good luck with ‘the flags’ LOL!!!!!!
I expect you’ll be looking forward to things warming up.
Thanks for our Friday wordage.

A big Monday hello to everybody.
A lovely bright sunny cloudy day here in The Lakes, 17C is forecast
A lazy morning doing crosswords, on me lappy and having a shower.
This arvo, a walk along ‘The Coffin Route’ LOL!!!!!!, it’s the old road between Ambleside and Grasmere before the new tarmac road was built.
They used to carry the coffins from Ambleside to St Oswald’s church in Grasmere along this road, there are stone slabs along the way where they would place the coffins while they had a rest.

Mo, hope it’s sunny in Wiggin so you can get Gizzy out for a walk.
Marie, thank you, we had a very good journey, with no traffic problems.

Well, it seems there are not many words left, not very happy with that!!!!!!!!!
Can you get any more Our Mo?

Lizzie, sounds like a busy Sunday was had!!!! LOL
Thanks for our Monday wordage, pity I couldn’t contribute.

Hope Ray is having a good day on his way home. Maureen, Gizzy will be in his glory today with this weather. Has Vince got a holiday home. It sounded like it from his last post.

Lizzie, Wigan won last night 18 - 12 but Salford played well. We play St Helens next week away so that will not be easy.

A big Monday Hello to all.
A bright sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 19C is forecast, with rain later, as Marie has said
Well, we are back to earth with a bang this morning, back in the old routine!!!!!! LOL.
All good things must come to an end as they say, but the memories are locked away.
We were so lucky with the weather last week, it was just perfect.
This arvo a walk round Rivvy, almost as nice as the Lakes truth be told.

Mo, good to know you’re thinking about painting, and you do seem to keep yourself busy with baking and stuff.
Are you golfing this week Vince?
Marie, cracking but close result for the Warriors last Friday.

Well done to NJ you got the 9 letter, and to Marie.

A horrible wet day here in Blighty, 17C is forecast.
There are ‘yellow’ weather warnings for parts of the country, this means heavy rain, hope we don’t cop it.
A lazy morning here, I’m revving myself up slowly into a working routine !!!!!! LOL.
This arvo our usual ‘big shop’ in Leyth.

Mo, good to know you got a visit from your Lee, that was quite a journey, 9 hours!!!!.
We have not seen our Kit since the end of April, we miss her terribly.
I think you should do a painting of Gizzy.

Well done to NJ you got the 9 letter, and to Marie.

Marie and Ray the trouble with painting Gizzy is in order to get a good shot

A very good day to all.
A cloudy cool slightly dampish day here in Blighty, 19C is forecast.
A busy morning here, I’ve taken our Skoda Yeti into the local dealership in Bolton for a service and MOT.
I’ve got a Skoda Scala courtesy car, it’s a brand new model based on the VW Golf.
What a cracking car it is.
It has a really lively one litre petrol engine, yes one litre, but it feels like a two litre engine it is sooooo fast.

Mo, I take your point about trying to take a picture of Gizzy, I expect he’s too lively to keep still, little monkey!!!!! LOL

Well done to NJ you got the 9 letter, I can’t believe how early you came on, Blimey O’Riley!!!!!, I don’t surface till 8-30 / 8-45 in the morning.
I expect Marie is on a ‘jolliday’.

Hello all,yes Ray,I've always been a good sleeper..there's a story that when
as a baby in my pram outside our front door( when babies could be left
safely) the woman who owned the chippie further down who used to go to Wigan market for her fish one day shouted up the 'lobby' "has this child been fed today" to which my Mam said "I have to wake her up to feed her
then she goes back to sleep" ..so the writing was on the wall then..Cliffs the
poor sleeper in our house...having said that I slept poor last night and don't
know why.

Glad your car got through as well Ray.

A very good day to everybody.
A bright sunny cloudless day here in Blighty, 14C max. is forecast.
Another busy morning cleaning, soooo glad it’s done.
This arvo a trip to Wigan town centre for a mooch.

Mo, your little mate, and you, will get a nice walk in today, enjoy.
The ‘Cryptics’ are done for tonight, I hope you can come on.

NJ, you always seem to get the 9 letter, well done.
Well done to Marie too, are you having a trip out this week?
Marie and NJ, you are very welcome to do the cryptic crosswords tonight over on WP, 8 pm sharp, be there or be square!!!! LOL.

A low word count today so hopefully I’ve left more for Our Mo.

Lizzie, thanks for defining ‘assonance’, it’s a word I’ve heard but didn’t know its meaning.
As you say we’ve had bad flooding in the UK, including Lancashire and Cumbria, but thankfully in Wigan and the immediate area it has not been too severe.
We are lucky where we live here as we are high up and have a little wooded valley in front of us, so we would never flood, unless it was a flood of Biblical proportions!!!!!! LOL.
Thanks for our midweek wordage, always appreciated.

Hello all,got my flags out in the sunshine..it isn't as warm now but
nevertheless..got some new trainers this morning so yes Ray,we've been
out this morning for his walk and again later on.

As for the terrible floods,we are so lucky..our house is on an incline and
some years ago there was quite a lot of flooding in Wigan but it came down our Avenue like a torrent..and will always remember looking through the
window to see what this noise was about..all the youngsters had taken their
socks and shoes off and were splashing in all the cascading water.

Well off we jolly well..I've got four left..warn,worn,draw,sworn.

Well done Marie and NJ

Thanks our Lizzie..I've just been pulled up on General for saying Ayres Rock instead of Uluru..I've read all about it and know it was originally
Ayres Rock then renamed Uluru/Ayres Rock..but aren't some folk picky.
xx❤️ Bet you're going to tell me off now for saying Ayres Rock. ..
PS..I must say I think he was 'picking' in a friendly way.

Hello Marie...good start..😊👏

Ray...we are the same as you ...on a hill and a valley below...no flooding for us...👍

Our Maureen...we have had a great renascence as to all the landmarks all around Australia ...they are now known by their indigenous names...which I think is great ....the rock was discovered by Ayers ....so he put his name to it...but it has always been Uluru to the indigenous people ...long before Ayers was a twinkle in his dad’s eye...😊xx

We’ve started our Winter routine today, I’ve run Susan into Bolton for her genealogy class, hence the late post.

Mo, yes. I think that poster who pulled you up for saying Ayers Rock was being ‘picky’.
I seem to remember reading that they have stopped tourists climbing to the top now in respect to the Aboriginals who regard it as sacred.

A big Friday Hello to everybody.
A miserable cloudy damp day here in Blighty, 15C max. is forecast.
A busy morning cleaning.
This arvo, a trip to Tesco at Horwich, and then weather permitting a local walk.

Mo, it must be a real dilemma for you whether to have the flu jab or not.
I think you’ve mentioned before about having COPD, you obviously need to be careful of what your body takes in.
I would get some advice on Monday, but the flu jab you get this year will not be the same as last year, cos as you know the NHS select the most likely strain for the UK to get.

Well done to Marie and NJ.
Good luck to the Warriors tonight.

A very good day to all.
A cloudy day here in Blighty, 15C max. is forecast.
This morning we’ve been to the doctors for our flu jabs.
It was unbelievable, the surgery was jam packed to the rafters with boomers!!!!!!., with standing room only.
While I was being done the nurse asked me if I wanted a shingles jab, so I opted to have it.
I remember my Dad having shingles in his sixties, he was really ill for about seven weeks.
This arvo a change to our L & L routine, we’re in a rut, we are having a woodland walk up Rivvy.

Mo, I’ll let you know how I get on with any after effects of my jabs.
It’s very worrying when you talk of seeing beetles crawling on the carpet, you were obviously hallucinating.

Well done to Marie and NJ.

was no jabs then) and every time when his temp went sky high he always
used to start singing a particular song 'Kathleen mavourneen'which no one

remembered singing it of course.lol

Hello all....well started painting at last..just the background first.

Saw the Nurse this morning for review on inhaler..anyway she explained a
lot about the flu jab..it isn't the vaccine that causes any problems, when you
have the jab all your antibodies go into overdrive against the strain you've
just had..leaving the immune system at rock bottom,so of course anything
nasty comes along you're the first to be affected if your immune system
isn't very good...so I've had the jab and am I glad..just to keep taking the
immune support tabs..she explained better than any Doc did.

Ray,I'm glad you've picked up..surprising what Vino Collaspo can do.keep
on with it..as though you need telling.

A big Hello to everybody.
Another very mixed cloudy showery here in Blighty, just 14C is forecast.
Thursday is a very busy day for yours truly, with cardiac class then two trips to Bolton.
Just got back and now having a brew and doing the words.
It’s my turn for the ‘tea’, so haven’t got much time LOL

Good luck with Cliff’s bloods Mo.

Well done to everybody, I can manage just a few more:-

A big Hello to everybody.
After a horrible wet morning it’s trying to brighten up here in Blighty, 15C is forecast.

Well folks, today is our Golden Wedding anniversary.
We’ve had a nice long chat with our Kit on the phone.
While we were talking, her present arrived by post, a lovely collage of old photos of us all from the past in an antique frame, just perfect.
Then a super flower arrangement arrived from me to Susan, all yellow and cream and white with gold bows, I nearly cried LOL
We’re having a nice cosy dinner for two tonight with a glass of something nice.

Mo, good to know your starting painting again, it’ll be great for the Winter nights maybe.

Well done to Marie and NJ.
NJ, if you like crosswords, you should join us over on the Peers website on Wednesday evenings for our ‘Cryptic Crosswords’, Mo is always there, and I give handy tips to solve the clues, you’re very welcome.

Lizzie, you are soooo lucky being on the coast, I look forward to your piccies.
Thanks as ever for our Friday wordage.
