Milkmen where have they gone........

You never see milk bottle on steps like you did years ago, or pass the milkman delivering in a morning. Another thing supermarkets have put to sleep

Earlier this year we cancelled our milk delivery after over 41 years because they raised the price of a PINT of milk to 69p. It is only 79p for 2 PINTS in most supermarkets,no contest

We still have milk delivered by Kevin our cheerful milkman.We also have a newspaper delivered daily, keeps someone in a job !

Don't take milk, but where I live, there is still a delivery by an early morning milk-float, at around 5-00 am.

I bet a lot of his customers though, get their pinta nicked before they rise and manage to take them in.

I also have my milk delivered and yes it is more expensive and understandably so. I strongly believe in supporting local businesses and do so wherever possible. There are peoples jobs at stake.. It doesn't matter what the weather the milkman never fails to deliver, and on time, which is more than can be said for most other services.
Long live the independent dairy and its delivery service.

Still have a doorstep milk delivery and hope to do so for a long time to come. Would rather keep our milkman in a job than support the big supermarkets.

I too have my milk delivered every day and come hell or high water my pinta is there every morning and it is also handy because he delivers around 5.00am. I remember a few years ago our street was completely snowed up but Jeff still parked his float on the main road and walked to our house with my daily pinta (and three or four other neighbours as well) well done him and at least I don't have to get the car out to go to the supermarket.

we used to have a milkman called Stan an absolute gentleman who made a real difference to our lives, i wished i could meet and tell him how he helped us out, maybe one day i will have the chance

However, a corner shop can undercut most 'supermarkets'. The problem (if it can be called a problem) lies with the customers. They'd sooner go to the 'named supermarkets' than any other store, simply because they are brainwashed!

Gone to Asda every one....when will they ever learn..when will they ever learn

If I do need to top up for any reason and buy a litre from a supermarket I will buy the one with the added cost that is guaranteed to go direct to the farmers. Over all it may not be a vast amount but hopefully it will show the farmers that some of us where possible are prepared to go the extra mile.

Our Milkman also delivers Bread, Potatoes, even bags of garden compost.A boon to OAPs like myself,

Along with Easter eggs, Hot Cross Buns, Christmas chocolate
Pop, fruit juice and don't forget the annual calendar and address books. Worth their weight in gold

i still have mine delivered . i know i can get it cheaper in the supermarkets ,but call me old fashioned as i like seeing my milk there when i open the door in the mornings.

Mine's due tomorrow morning. Don't need it delivered daily
