I know how you feel britboy.. I did post yesterday and you were the only one bothered to say anything...

So rather than raise that post from the dead..I'll tell you that yesterdays visit to Homeland Security was a million times better than my previous visit.. Yesterdays visit, was very much like how you described your visit..

My previous visit was a nightmare.. First, my husband was with me and the Security outside, plain and simple just put his hand on my husbands chest to stop him and told him he couldn't go in... I had to give him, my phone, then went in alone.. Through the security scanner, etc, into one big room, packed with people, guards on the outside and inside,.. I remember thinking, that it was entirely possible we could all be marched out into a truck and shipped out and our families would have no idea.. 4 hours later I was done, my husband sat in the car all that time and had NO idea of what was going on..

That is why I was so nervous, I thought it would be even worse this time, as Terrorism in this country is so much worse.. Anyway I am clear for another 10 years, although being 72 in a couple of weeks, I don't know if I'll need to be making another visit to H S.... I slept like a log last night though, all the stress just washes away...

My first visit after the two years probationary period was a little stressed, I had to do to the Detroit office, not a nice place to be.
The morning of the appointment, there was no were to park, manage eventually to part in a back street.
When Mrs b and I went in we were the token white folk, there were all colours and races of people trying to sort their immigration papers out.
They must go every day with no end result, we waited ten minutes and called in for our appointment, all eyes were on us bypassing the hordes.
The official asked us if we were still happily married and sharing the same address, he nodded to us and we said YES! He looked at all our joint bills and bank statement, stamped approved on the application for and we were out in 15 mins, again over 200 people daggers drawn watching us leave.
We got out of Detroit asap and back up north, that was my first 10yr green card experience, the second 10yr signup went super smooth at Grand Rapids mi, I was thankful I didn't have to go to Detroit again.

Same here.. I never would have come to the US if I hadn't met my husband...he, my daughter and grandson are the only reason I am here... When my life is done, I will be going back to England...

I do get it, I do know it's a choice, so don't get citizenship, enjoy the hassle, I think a mental check up may be in order also.

No Stuart, you have it all wrong... What I meant was... coming to the US was never on my mind..It wasn't something I yearned or dream't to do.. I was happy in England, family, good paying job, etc,,

Then I met my husband who is American, we fell in love.. His job had him working in Europe, part of it in England, that's when we met.. then his time was up and he had to come back to the States.. He asked me to Marry him, i said yes and came over with him... There is nothing sad in that...

P's me off on the ex pats site with stupid questions:

Where can I get Ribena, Prawn Cocktail crisps, Birds Custard etc. There are equivalents of almost everything. No mention of how beautiful the Rockies have looked every day for the last week. Rant over.

Who asks those questions?

Did you get citizenship Broady?
We've been US citizens since 2006. I thought it right to take the offer since I was actually living in the country.
