The urge to get away from it all and go and live up yonder frequently comes over me.

I have just initiated a five year extraction plan to retire back into the UK...will it work? Time will tell but it won't be for the want of trying.
Perhaps looking after steam locomotives on the Jacobite run will be the deal maker

Amazing and beautiful.. I love steam trains.. I would love to be able to take my 15 yr old grandson on one... heck, I want to go on a train ride myself, it's been years and years.. But at least I have been on them, he hasn't... One day ( and as my Grandma always said, 'God willing ' )

Thanks Priscus, nothing here.. and even if there was, it wouldn't be a Steam Train.. As you know, there is a World of difference between a Steam Train and the others..

'The Orange Blossom Cannonball', in Lake county is steam, but I guess you must be too far from it.
Can't pass up on the opportunity to air one of my fav tunes:
Orange Blossom Special

230 miles Priscus, 3 and half hours to drive there...
I'm not sure 500 miles and 7 hours in the car , money for gas and tolls, plus meals, is worth it for a 55 minute chug around the lake...
I am with you on the ' Orange Blossom Special'.. I love it, listened to it this morning and can't get it out of my head now..

Priscus, it seems we may after all, be taking a ride on the Orange Blossom Cannonball..
We did have plans this weekend to go visit friends on Sat in Mt Dora, stay overnight, then go to my Husbands sister and family in Orlando on Sun..
Unfortunately, our friends had to cancel our visit on Sat, we had the hotel booked and still wanted to visit family on Sun, .. So we had to look for alternative plans and are now looking into going for a choo choo ride Sat afternoon..

Hope the steamer is running the day you are there, as I gather it is not the only locomotive they use.

So the Steam train ride was nice, loved the rocking movement of the old trains.. The train , so we were told, is the oldest steam train still running in the US.. The Carriage we were in was 100 years old and has been a part in over 20 movies, featuring lots of famous actors..
The scenery left a lot to be desired, only now and then got glimpses of the lake, but had good view of some Scrap yards and storage units .. All in all though, we did have a pleasant afternoon..
