Winstons Wish

There was a farmer who grew pumpkins. He was doing pretty well, but he was disturbed by some local kids who would sneak into his pumpkin patch at night and eat his pumpkins. After some careful thought, he came up with a clever idea that he thought would scare the kids away for sure.
He made up a sign and posted it in the field. The next day, the kids show up and they saw the sign which read, "Warning! One of the pumpkins in this field has been injected with cyanide."
The kids ran off, made up their own sign and posted it next to the farmer's sign. When the farmer returned, he surveyed the field. He noticed that no pumpkins are missing, but the sign next to his read, "Now there are two!"

A stockboy is stacking fruit on a display, when a lady asks "Do you have any pumpkins? " The stockboy replies "Sorry ma'am, we are out of pumpkins, but we will be getting a shipment tomorrow morning" The lady looks around some more. A few mins later she runs back to him asking where the pumpkins are. The stockboy confused about her mental state simply tells her "Sorry ma'am, we are out of pumpkins, but we will be getting a shipment tomorrow morning" The lady looks around some more then goes back to the same stockboy and asks "Where the hell do you keep the pumpkins, I need some pumpkins right now!" The stockboy, getting frustated with his inability to explain the situation, tells the lady "Answers a couple of questions and I will get you your pumpkins from the back." The lady agrees and the man starts the questions. "Spell cat for me, as in catastrophe " she says Ok, "C A T". "Very good!" the stockboy says, "now spell dog, as in dogmatic. " The lady getting frustrated spells it correctly. Now the employee finally asks "now spell, F**k, as in pumpkins. " She replies "There is no F**k in pumpkins?" To which the stockboy replies "THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU THE WHOLE TIME!"

Staff - could it be time to call in the crime squash? Is £1 a cut price offer, Jazzy?

The PUMPKIN TRAIL starts at Haigh Woodlands Park this coming Sat (24th Oct -1st Nov).

The trail sheet can be either downloaded from FB / Winston's Wish website.
You can also pick one up from the café at Haigh Stables from Saturday onwards.

I wonder if the Haigh pigs like pumpkins. I hope they're OK - not seen them for ages.

We sell our pork (which) can be a divisive subject and prompt strong responses. We personally think that for those of us that do eat meat, eating pork from a source where you know the pigs are kept exceptionally well and well cared for is the best way.

Unfortunately, at our Haigh pen, vinyl signage has been slashed through several times (and) somebody is intentionally damaging the pig pen cutting the fence.

Please don't approach anyone who seems suspicious, but call us; we are receiving police advice and the area is under tighter monitoring. We have also installed a mobile cctv system.

I'm not sure what they're suggesting. Is it that someone is attempting to set the pigs free - or trying to steal them to take them to market .

Sorry, I-spy, the former, the above post was me paraphrasing:

What is most concerning to us is that somebody is intentionally damaging the pig pen cutting the fence, this selfish, foolish act is not "caring for animals".

Tyldesley Market is holding a Shine a Light family festival on Halloween - Leigh Journal.

Light up a pumpkin with, & for, people living with dementia, Alzheimer's & mental health problems. (FB)

The festival will set a new borough record for the most carved and lit pumpkins in a town centre, hopefully next year other towns will compete. Refreshments - including pumpkin soup & sweet pumpkin pie - will be available.

Getting reports of teenagers smashing pumpkin trail boxes at Haigh.
Can't do anything about it now will have to keep fingers crossed damage not too bad but looks like it will delay the the pumpkin trail opening time tomorrow.

Had a lovely time doing the pumpkin trail today - perfect for a chilly Sunday. Our 4 year old was very excited every time he found a box. Hope you have a great success despite the vandals xx.

We did the walk this afternoon and we didn't notice any damage so you've done a great job at fixing them. Our family are visiting from Kent and we all had a fantastic time doing the hunt! Thank you! The new park looks fantastic too!

Saw an elderly chap carrying a giant pumpkin today - I'll be amazed if he's not in casualty by now.
I offered a helping hand but he would have none of it.

When our kids were little we used turnips it must be a yanky thing pumpkins

We used turnips, too, PeterP; pumpkins are a relatively new-candled idea in the UK.

I think I have been to that chippy.. years ago, my brother took me to what he said 'was the best chippy around'and they were delicious.. I know it was Orrell, because I thought it was a fair way to go from North Ashton,and it was a small stand alone building, but it was worth the drive..

I was in there on Tuesday, they had this gi-normous one, probably almost a metre in diameter.
It was on sale for an unbelievable £60.
