The January Transfer Window opens on the 1st January 2025, so if we buy some good players in January, and lets face we can afford to do so now, then there is no reason why the Latics cannot be in the Championship next season Wigan Athletic News

Just remember all 'ye of little faith' it happened once before, so it could happen again, back into the Championship and then onwards and upwards into the Premier League LINK

And look what happen afterwards to the Latic's after their brief excursion into the now rich world of the Premiership and that was under a former football player owner who knew what players to sign to be successful at every level on the way!

Surely APLS, you do not want that to happen again as it has with many other smaller clubs in the last few seasons.

Wigan Athletic were in the Premiership for eight seasons, that is hardly a 'brief excursion' is it

It may have been for eight years, but the fact remains that when the ex. football millionaire owner had acheived his aim of winning a major trophy and installing a statue of himself at the front of the stadium, he then decided that was not prepared to stand the financial losses anymore, sold the club to new bad owners and then rode off into the sunset leaving the club heading into adminisration from which they have never fully recovered.

And if anyone thinks that the new billionaire owner is going to follow the same path, they are sadly mistaken as he has only bought the Latic's to gain control of the stadium and safe guard the future of Wigan Warriors playing at the stadium and no longer paying a rent for the previlage!

The championship is the best level for latics and my team Huddersfield unless they can do a Brighton who have a 30000 followers consistently

roylew is correct as you only need to see how many clubs after getting into the Premiership have ended up in financial trouble, possible administration and then slide down the divisions.

Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield, Portsmouth, Charlton Athletic are just a few of the clubs who in recent seasons have all ended up back in the lower divisions after being relegated from the Premiership with Luton Town being the latest club to go down from the Premiership to Division One in only two seasons.

8 years in the prem, did you not understand

Only because in the eight years of being in the Premiership they had a millionaire owner who has a ex. professional football player himself knew what players to sign or not to sign during his time of ownership.

The moment he sold the club and flew off to Barbados, all went downhill and into adminisration from which the Latic's have since never recovered.

Perhaps it is yourself who has not understood!
