United's lack of!

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6555)

What i would like to bring up yet again is as much as i can see, hear, is the total and utter lack of interest that Manchester United are showing with regards to the summer's transfer market. Already the main two /three club's that we are desperately trying to match /catch have finished their business already. As for United us the fans we have yet to see anything concrete, the latest snippet i read was a player from Wolves Ruben Neves, Christian Erikson, and ajax forward Antony , the issue with De Jong is now becoming a soap saga yet again they want £70 odd million ,United 's bid is £60 million so we are at an impasse .. IT just seems that this is how it's been for the last god knows how many damn years , yet the other two club's City /Pool don't appear to have any such problem's ,WHY? GB

And they can’t give away previous “ mega signings” Martial, Bailly , Wan Bissaka and Jones spring to mind. Maguire’s jacket must be on a shaky peg also.

Latest reports suggest the de jong deal is imminent .
Reports also suggest that darren fletcher reckons harry m could play in a defensive mid field role.
I give up .

Could it not be, that over the last few seasons utd have lost some of their once guaranteed trophy haul and especially this year, now they're not in the CL, that players want more chance to win things and look at more successful clubs......

Why and how has Darren Fletcher become such a prominent part of the set up?
Frecky, Players want success and to play in the European Cup etc. Sadly at the minute United cannot offer that. They are in a chicken and egg situation.
I notice now that Rio Ferdinand has become a very vocal critic. Reckons he wasn't treated with respect when he left. Why wait so long to bring it up? Everyone jumping on the band wagon.

I think utd will have to spend a lot of money to get the manager the team he's wanting. Because it is utd and the club being one of the richest in the world, they're going to have to bite the bullet and pay what's necessary....as broady says, chicken and egg situation.

Not the "last few seasons" Frecky.

SIX seasons, they have won nothing for SIX seasons.

Chatty

Perhaps the answer for United is to get owners from abroad as rich as those who own City, Liverpool and other top clubs in the Premiership.

You never know, it might even attract top class managers like Pop, Jurgen, Thomas or even an Alex!

Even new foreign investment could result in United having a complex at Carrington like City, where the Reserve and Youth teams could play their home games instead of them paying to play games at the AJ Bell and Leigh Sports Village Stadiums.

As long as United are owned by the Glaziers, they will never compete financially with City and Liverpool etc as all the profits are wiping off debts in the USA and not going into attracting better quality managers and players.

Not like you to talk a bit of sense todger (not much just a bit) is it a one off will it be a regular occurence?
Couldn't agree more about needing new owners but looking at Uniteds spend over the last decade to say United can't compete financially is Bullpoo, what they need is for it to be spent properly.
Now that the chief banker (and what a "banker" he turned out to be) has departed and new structures have been put in place were footballing people will be making football decision I am hoping that is about to change.
You'll find that Uniteds reserve and youth teams are so popular that they require stadiums and there is a thinking concerning the youngsters getting experience of playing in those surrounds with as big a crowd as possible rather than playing on a "park" pitch at the side of other pitches at a "complex".
No surprise to see you have reverted to type and written the manager off before he has taken a training session though.

Owd Codger,

trafford already have a rich owner who allows them to outspend other clubs.

Their plummet into mediocrity is simply down to mismanagement.

Hello Don GB , Well it's great to see you writing again and looking forward to another season ,I have been wondering were everyone was ,as it has been quite on here ,( then i suppose with people on hols) so it looks like to me that this not qualifying for the C.L . is really having a serious effect on United , There was one player in particular who you have just signed and that is Kalvin Phillips, i don't fault him going to city after all your in C.L. but what i did find a bit obnoxious from him was what he said about the possible move to united .( Which was i think the fans at Leeds would have held it against him )) SERIOUSLY is he having a larf ??? He only had to look at the signing of Eric Cantona that did not upset things . And may i add that has applied to all clubs so i just wish he would have been honest and said he did not want to play for Man U .
Also in answer to some other member's i agree with them unfortunately we have a HUGE ALBATROSS around our neck's in the shape of the THIEVING ,CHEATING ,DISHONEST ,GLAZIERS CLAN ,and until we can be rid of them i don't think thing's will get better any times soon . SO i am looking forward to see how this new manager turns out ,should be interesting to say the least . GB

Cheers GB, it's certainly going to be an interesting season. I would like City to win the league to do three in a row but I feel that no matter how good our new signings are, Liverpool will be more settled (apart from replacing Mane that is).

Haaland is getting all the attention but I am more excited about Alvarez to be honest, he is very much in the Aguero mould and is regarded as the South American boy wonder, as Haaland is the European one.

As for 'nited, their supporters must be quite worried about the lack of activity, it doesn't help not having CL football. I sincerely hope they don't get De Jong as he is a top player who would currently walk into City's team.

Having said that, they will soon knock that out of him.

On the subject of the European knockout trophy, let me say here and now that I would like us to win it this season and I will be mildly disappointed if we don't.

Having said that, given the option of winning three Premier Leagues in a row or one EKT, it is an absolute no brainer, the EKT doesn't even come into it.

Come on you Blues, let's get three in a row!

See the berties are about to sign a player from the sheep sh.ggers .
Phillips at best is just a slightly above average player so you are very welcome to him.
So good luck to the berties in the coming season in the C L oyears .
Given they are serial C L losers they will need it.

At the moment yes, but a couple of seasons under the guidance of the master and he will develop to be way above average. And an absolute bargain at £42m

My maths isn’t great but Phillips is roughly half of what Pogba cost a few years back. Much less salary and he will have to lose a leg to be as bad as Pogba. Please note I am not anti United but am 100% anti Pogba.

"Final hurdle" indeed.

The bitter know-nowts have been grasping at that nonsensical straw for six years now. We only expected to be blessed by him for three in the first place.

Only the bitters and the media have convinced themselves that Pep will be sacked if he doesn't win the EKT, nobody else in the land cares.

He hasn't done too badly in the other races, especially the one that matters.

Premier League: 2017–18, 2018–19, 2020–21, 2021–22
FA Cup: 2018–19
EFL Cup: 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21
FA Community Shield: 2018, 2019

How many honours have trafford won in that timescale with their plethora of failed managers?

Taxi for ten bob!

The Sportswashers are desperate to win the Champions League because they think that is some sort of validation when trying to improve their beyond tarnished reputation and I have no doubt they will stop at nothing until they do, be that with Guardiola or without him.
