Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6555)

To any golf fan's on here i see it makes sombre reading that Europe not only lost the Ryder Cup ,We got a bloody nose with those yanks giving us a good thrashing ,, was very disappointed with Rory MAC he did not turn up on the day ,saw him weeping at the end ( he needs to pull himself together ) Overall i did not care for the side that was picked ,but we tried thats about all one say ,and look towards the next one i have not heard where it is going to be played ...GB

alan if you look at both teams the outcome is no suprise . the yanks were full of young players that were in their 20s & most of them major winners on the other side the european team were full of old men & players that wernt good enough & that was the differance .

Italy is the venue for the next Ryder Cup G B.
Rory is a terrific player who simply lost his form but redeemed himself in the singles .
The u s a team simply outplayed us over the three days .
Younger and at present better players than us .
But things will be different next time outside Rome i reckon.

So there are lots of good, young players on the horizon in the British game?

Lots and lots of good young American players out there also. Just for the record, and so I can bear them in mind for betting purposes, could you advise me of a few. Thanking you in advance.

Why would you think things changed so much from paris in 2018 to whistling straits this week.?

Weve not got the quality coming through that the yanks have at present, they out played us , the golf ranking proves that the quality is on the other side of the pond

I think I read that the lowest world ranked player in the US team was number 21 and Europe only had three players ranked above him. The US captain insisted on six wildcard selections whereas Harrington only had three. The US captain could pick his experienced and form players rather than someone that earned his points months earlier and may have gone off the boil.

The world ranking system is outdated and is up for review.
There have been several first time winners on the European tour this year, notably Rasmus and Nicolai Højgaard ,twins from Denmark and local lad Marcus Armitage from Salford. It takes time to qualify for the PGA TOUR where the majority of points are to be obtained.
There is a gap I admit in quality as proved by Billy Horschel winning at Wentworth but I wouldn't give up yet.
A lack of form in the team was a problem andthey caught an American team at the top of their game.
I thought Rose should have been picked, somewhere in the team, and couldn't fathom why he left Fleetwood out of the foursomes given his record, but just my opinion and I felt sorry for Harrington.

Blackrodweaver : I think what you should also consider when you say the quality over the pond is greater than ours ,,,, Could that they also have a system were when they are at their colleges they can get degree's for playing golf ,,,as well as other sports .. Where-as in this country and i believe it's the same in Europe they don't have a "Legup or Help ........ GB

Great point GB they do indeed have that system in USA , john Rahm went through it and that proves your point,, I watch college golf on the golf channel and theres a lot of good golf played by good players and relatively young
