ENGLAND FOOTBALL SHIRTS.

Started by: broady (inactive)

I see the three lions that has been on the shirts has now been changed to show a lion, a lioness and a cub to “ better reflect the times we live in” What next? Will the British Lions have to change their name at RU. What mealy mouthed R Soles make these decisions.

I don't agree with that, Broady. I think the new logo should be 2 gay lions with a transgender girl/boy lion.
Just putting it in line with modern day thinking

broady and peter g (“ better reflect the times we live in” & 'How long will this post stay about England.'),
Trying to stay within the topic of this thread, it might have other reasons than 'political correctness', which I think that broady is pointing at rather than certain other reasons - but, before broady considers having a go at me, I do not mean anything negative by what I am saying. What could be an added reason of the change is: MONEY.
A common marketing strategy - and has been for quite a number of years - is to change the 'strip' of the team every season and sometimes, twice in one season; sometimes, both home and away strips. With some of these 'shirts' costing between 75 and 100 quid (when brand new on the market) and many fans wanting the 'new shirt', it is certainly a 'nice little earner!' and one that Del Boy would have been laughing about in financial glee all the way to 'The Nag's Head' with.

I'm not talking about that Ian. I'm talking about it getting changed to a slanging match about two football teams

peter g,
I wasn't disagreeing with what you said - actually, I still think that you are right with your words, because most threads seem to drop into arguments and sometimes, bitter arguments.
I just tried to keep to the topic of this thread and mostly typed in answer to the opening words of broady.

I think the 3 Lions should be retained, the shirt design might be changed to reflect trends of the times and the positioning of the badge moved, but 3 Lions it is. I'm not sure what the England Women's badge looks like although they are called the Lioness's. So if it's England Women or Men, they represent England, its " 3 Lions on the shirt " for me.

Put the three lionesses on the Women’s shirt. That should please the money men and the feminist brigade.
