Eric Bailly has signed a new contract after being PROMISED more playing time!!! They have struggled all season at centre back and he hasn’t been selected. They are linked with every central defender on the planet which should push him farther down in the pecking order, but according to reports OGS has given him assurances about more playing time. Can anyone explain this to me?

Not so extraordinary when you think Phil Jones got a new contract last time around.
To be fair he looks a half decent player "when fit" and as was shown at Liverpool this season you need to have at least 4 centre halves who are capable of stepping in if needed or you can get found out.
Ole see him every day in training ( when fit) and obviously thinks he is good enough for the squad at least.
Or on the other hand they may be thinking by extending his contract they can ask more for him if they do move him on, time will tell.

I concur when you say he is a decent player chatty .
Trouble is he is injury prone and surely cant be relied on to be available for enough games in a season as things stand .
O g s does see him each training session and clearly his judgement is based on a lot more evidence than we have .
But i do wonder if this is a message to the millions of world wide utd fans not to expect a major signing of a class centre back and this is what we have to go with .
Just saying like .
