Interesting story?
In the early 60's my Gran-in-law who lived in Poolstock would tell me about an old woman she used to see on the landing of her house. Although I found this interesting I took it with a pinch of salt and put it down as an elderly womans imagination. I often looked, never, ever, saw a thing.
40yrs later.. Everytime my husband and I passed this house he always said,"I wonder who lives there now?"
One day, I could not resist. Lady and her daughters were gardening. I stopped, said hello, my hubby told them his Gran used to live there and he was born there.
One of the girls asked if his Gran died in the house. I said, no, Wigan Infirmary.
She said," Did she ever say anything--- and in unison both her and I said "An old woman on the landing"
She then turned to the others and said,"I told you".

I told her that I had never seen anything, and that his Gran never felt threatened by this woman.
I got the idea that the girl felt as though a weight had been lifted.

We all enjoyed that chat.
If those people come onto this site they will recognise this story.

As a small boy, I could never say the letter 'Y'. When my siblings wanted lollies they asked and received, I could only ask for a lol, so everyone laughed. I cried.
Even now I can't say the word lolly, and when I go into a shop and ask for a lol to the shopkeep, guess what his response is?

Now here you are, mocking the afflicted, just because you have been to 'Nam' with Dustaf.
