please can you help, my girlfriend is trying to find her father, her mother took her away from him in the late 80`s, and came to london from wigan, she has always wondered about him, and her mother recently let slip that her father tried to keep in contact with his daughter, but was denied contact by my girlfriends mother, she only has one clue, that he was related to a wigan rugby player and his surname was owen, thank you for taking the time to read this, aerron, p.s, my girlfriends name is siobhan

Has she not tried to get her original birth certificate details from Somerset House? If her birth was registered before her mum took her away, it should have the fathers name on it

Unless you can find out a christian and surname. You are 'clutching at straws' Why will her mother not tell her what his name is and where he lived? She has a right to know. What went on between her father and her mother as nothing to do with her. Why is her mother denying her this right?

How old is your girlfiend, and how old would her dad be approximately?

There may be a good reason why the girls mum is not givin info. She might think (or actually BE ) tryin to protect her daughter rather than bein vindictive to the father. First question siobhan needs to ask is why her mother is unwillin to help
