Johnny Picton

Started by: tonker (27835)

Does anyone remember 'Johnny Picton', from the late sixties/early seventies, on his racer? He used to hang around all the schools in Ashton and Haydock at 'going home time', on his pale blue bike. He was a legend in his own time, was JP.

Yeah. Apparently you were in my shop when Gareth and I were talking about him. I must admit that I don't remember the conversation ( I don't remember much as soon as 5pm comes, lol ) but am intrigued that you know so much about us yet we can't figure out your identity.

S**t. I thought I'd sussed you, lol. I'm trying to work out who I know, about my age, who worked in the pit and I have to admit I'm completely stumped. Which school did you go to? I'm assuming that, as you know both Gareth and myself that you went to Evans and possibly the Central after that.

Nah. That would be boring. And Tonker knows I don't do boring. Been going through all his previous posts for some clues. I might park up on Robinsons car park tomorrow night and listen out for him switching his computer on, lol.

We lived in Ashland Avenue, before going to Australia in 1960. When we came back in 1963 we lived with my dad's aunts on Lowbank Road for a short while before moving to Skelton Street. We moved into Hardwick Road in 1965, where my mother still lives to this day.
