Buddy Holly stayed at The Grand Hotel when he appeared on the Ritz. Sadly the room he stayed in is now occupied by asylum seekers. Not long ago there was a story of a chamber maid who met Buddy at The Grand. It was in the post & Chronical.

It really annoys me that so many great bands and musicians would play at Wigan, there's no ideal venue now, me dad told me about all the folk he's seen, Ike and tina Turner, the Stones, marc bolan....I only got to stand on the site of the Casino when i put some trenches in before they started work on the Grand Arcade.... Bring back the bands!!!

The Rolling Stones were on at the 'Emp before it was Casino. I was there, what a great night that was. The Shadows were top of the bill when Ike and Tina were on at the Ritz, Frank Ifield was on the same night, was there too. Cheers from Oz. Bobby Gal.
