British gas

I have had British gas for years even switched to electricity with them a few years ago. Now this morning I got a letter off them saying in regard to their projected analysis of the gas I would use in the future ,they are kindly increasing my direct debit payment by a big amount, Now I am a pensioner, live alone don't use very much gas, on my last statement I was £120 in credit so how can they tell me how much my gas will be next year, oh and by the way I have the scheme were they supposedly don't increase prices until 2008.I rang got nowhere until I said I would be looking for a fresh supplier, then they wanted to put me through to customer relations at which point I said B******s and put the phone down, I now await events .

Get a fresh supplier....................... British gas are one of the dearer ones. There are plenty cheaper suppliers. I am with N.Power. If you get both Gas and Electric from them, and pay by Standing Order.You get a £60.00 discount.

its a mine field out there regarding gas and lecky prices. a couple of neighbours switched for a cheaper deal, 4 weeks later, the bills went up???costs of gas has to be passed on to us the consumers...how can someone claim to be cheaper, when the gs in going up??they have to protect their profits? i am with british gas, they leave much to be desired, but having switched once (big increase in my bills for my trouble) i switched back.

I'm with Powergen and I'm seriously thinking of changing my supplier. I work from 9 till 5 Monday to Friday and through the summer my gas has been £50 a month and electricity £48 a month. Now then! If I'm at work all day with no central heating on, no cooking being done and no fire on, how am I using so much power? I did a little test in September by not using any gas whatsoever, except to cook. What I did was I took a reading and wrote it down with the time at the side of it. Cooked my meal then took another reading with the time. I did this for almost a month but I've still not rung Powergen to ask them why my meter is moving when I've no gas on, except for the pilot light for my heating. I really must ring them about this because it can't possibly be right. Anyone got any ideas about this?

these lecky and gas companys are screwing the public into the ground and what are our politicians doing about it? NOWT. These companys are making millions every month and still putting up the prices. In my opinion the Mp,s and councillors must have thousands of pounds worth of shares in these rip off companys thats why they keep their mouths shut and new labour is supposed to be for the working class.

we are, and we always have been, and will continue to be..."pawns on the chess board"we are at the bottom of the heap. once in a while they(the system suits)will toss us a toffee apple,take the pensioners chess game, give them £200 every other year, and they will think santa has come early. why the h***dont we get a pension like the southern irish, and the same concessions as they do???the gross national income for that nation is just a drop in the ocean compared to the UKs.we are at the bottom of the league here when it comes to the retirement pension.loads of cash to throw at anyone, thats not contributed a nickel to the economy, yet those who have, are punished. like everything else today here in the UK...all screwed up.

gas and water and lecky...essential neccesities for the masses...so why are they privatised to make profits for the money men??????at a huge cost to us the consumers.

Billy you're my hero. I agree with EVERYTHING you say. Oh! while I'm on, What about the christmas stamps this year, with no relegious theme!!!!! Just in case we upset our ethnic cousins. How long before Christmas is banned altogether????? Along with Easter...etc.

I recently had a British Gas rep mithering me on my doorstep. He was full of the old spiel, incentives,etc and then when he had tried to soft soap me then tried to get me to change my electricity supply over to them.I quickly shut the door. I know they have a job to do, but why can't they just take no for an answer.

I did change when I was in my other house, I changed back 2 months later as the customer service with the cheaper place was dreadful.

watch out for the doorstep scam of asking you to sign this paper, just so his boss knows he has canvassed your area.you will be signing up to the guys company.

Had them at my door last week cavassing for some lecky company and Itold them straight out the companies are thieving greedy b......s they didnt stay long.

When they knock at my door(and by the way I have one of those signs which say no canvassers)I just say not interested and close the door, don't even give them a chance to tell me what they want, the looks on the faces of some of them hysterical

they will consider you a lost soul, bound for the nether regions aitch.
