I think the pub in Pemberton run by Ken Gee was the Black Bull. It stood on the corner of the main road and the entry which leads to St John's church. Billy B's pub was the Griffin in Standishgate.

I heard Billy was very lazy off the field ,but on the field he was unstoppable, there was a great difference In character between Billy and Mike,Mike would fight anybody. He even got Into a fight In the tunnel going onto the ground at Sydney Cricket Ground with Peter Diamond(who also liked a punch up) before the game ,I'm not sure If they stayed on the field after the game started. In those days Wigan was unbeatable.

I think it was 1950 and they had 8 tourists
and beat Huddersfield at Maine Rd. for the top four play off, not at Wembley.

I think marken his correct ,I thought It was about 46 or 50.At least they had better sides than whats running around today,I never exspect them to win (Lions)and they do'nt .It's a bonus or a surprise If they win.Gone are those days when we always won.We do'nt seem to have the passion to win like the Kiwis or Auss.
