In the paper this morning there is a picture of posh spice with the headline as poshed as a newt, this got me thinking where did the original expression as p*****d as a newt come from I for one have never seen a newt with a hangover and does any one else know of any other equally daft sayings.

The only butchers dogs I ever knew were that well fed that they couldnt raise there heads never mind anything else so no chance of being randy.

I had a pet newt once. Called him Tiny, cos he was my newt.
