As a 67 year old pensioner there are 2 songs which to me always remind me of good old british summers, one is Mungo Jerrys In the Summertime and the other is Dexies Midnight Runners singing Come on Eileen and I wondered what music do you connect with our good old british weather, There are good reasons why those particular ones are my favs so come on whatare yours

The Dexies tune always reminds me of the first time I went to Alton Towers with my wife and kids, it was a coach trip from my wifes church and as luck would have it I was the coach driver, driving for Walls coaches from Ince, anyway come on Eileen had just got into the charts and we were just ready to come home and one of our friends was completly worn out as was I, but he was lying on the grass and shouted out beam me up scotty ive had enough and that song came through on the sound system, first time I heard it but I have never forgotten it and I still think it is a great tune His wifes name was Eileen

"Oh What a beautiful Morning" from Oklahoma?
When I hear this song. I am immediately back in the late 1940's Walking down Schofield lane, with my dad, one summer sunday morning. Heading towards Greenough street. Where my grandma lived. I am about 4 or5. I can see some men crouched down on the wide pavement which was on the corner of Greenough street and Whelley. I don't know why I relate this scene to the song? I can only think that it was playing on the radio in a house as we were passing? It's amazing what your brain can remember.

Hi, Aitch, my favourite song that I associate with summer is True Love ways by Buddy Holly. I know it really has nothing to with summer, but it reminds me of walking around Butlins Skeggy with my boyfriends arm around me, and it came over the camp loud speaker that he had been killed in a plane crash! Funny you should have worked for Walls as the boyfriend I talk about after being a coach driver for Walls, too, became the office manager!!

How about "Singin' in the rain" by Gene Kelly? For me there are three songs which remind me of my summers in England for different reasons, first "Unchained Melody" by Al Hibbler in 1955 when I was seperated from my first real girlfriend for the summer. The second was for the same reason but different girl, the song was "I'll take you home again,Kathleen" by Slim Whitman in '57,no prizes for guessing the girl's name.My third choice was more melancholy as I had booked two weeks in Blackpool in '61 with my friend and our respectively girlfriends but before the holidays started my girl and I broke up.We still went to the same boarding house but avoided each other, then at the end of the first week I met one of my old girlfriends and we arranged to meet again later,on my birthday as it happened. On that day just as I was having tea I got a 'phone call,my date couldn't come, what a let down. And the song was the Everly Brothers "Walk right back".It could quite easily have been Josef Locke singing "Goodbye" from "White Horse Inn".
