ROYALS PAY RISE £100MILLION

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

I see the Queen has just a whopping big pay rise just like our MPs ,she has gone up to £ 100 Million for the year ,and i know the royal luvies will be happy about it . But i do think the MPs at least should have set an example and refused an increase for at least the next 2/3 years , as for her maj well i appreciate she has a job to do and there is quite an amount of staff ,never-the-less i feel strongly that she too should have have shown some constraint , at the least whilst the entire nation is going to be put through the MANGLE for a foreseeable long time , as for £ 100 million i believe it is far too much . I believe you are talking about reducing vat from 20% down to 17% if that were to happen the treasury said it would lose £18 BILLION ! GB

Hello ENA , I am sorry i have got my wires crossed ,yes you are totally correct the total in percentage is around the figure you have written which is 17% ,i do not know how you feel , but as i have said it's far too much ,after all i honestly do not believe the queen will have to watch her purse and have to decide what to eat or how much to keep warm that's my whole argument, i would wish to make this clear i have nothing personal against her as a dear old lady , what i want to get at is all the trapping's and "hanger ons" and there are plenty of those ,one only has to have watched Royal Ascot? So ENA again sorry for the mistake by me .GB

As I understand it, this is not all from taxpayers. Some comes from the Sovereign Grant which is from the Estates once owned by the monarch but now by the State who repay 15 - 25%.
Then the monarch gets money from the Estate of the Duchy of Lancaster which is currently held by Prince Charles.
Then some from the Privy Purse.
Then from the Estates such as Balmoral and Sandringham, and I believe she pays voluntary tax on that.

Unless someone knows different.

Prince Charles holds the title Duke of Cornwall and as such is entitled to all the income from the Duchy of Cornwall.
The Queen holds the title Duke of Lancaster and is entitled to all the income from the Duchy of Lancaster.

When I first qualified in my chosen profession, I was earning the same as an MP.

I got very rapid early promotions. My managers had to seek special permission from the Whitley Council on grounds that I did not have the years of experience required for the grade, but had stepped in when need arose, and already performed the said role satisfactorily.

MPs, on the other hand, stressed how much they had forgone pay increases. Though they would from time to time take a massive increase to compensate.

You might expect that I had left MPs way behind.

No such thing!

Up until when I retired, (then at the top of my profession/pay grade) I NEVER again earned as much as an MP!

There are, no doubt figures which relate MP earnings to norms . All I know is that they certainly left me behind.

Not complaining: just my observation.

Did you know that if you die intestate and have no traceable family, all your worldly goods and money go to the Duchy of Lancaster's coffers.

The 'Duchy of Lancaster' is a portfolio of land and property, belonging to 'The Crown Estates', the income from which goes to 'The Crown'.
Intestate property goes to The Treasury, which is 'The Crown Estate'.

Believe me. I know.
