double sided tape

Started by: PeterP (11306)

I have just lifted a small carpet which was held down with double sided carpet tape, The tape has remained on the ceramic floor tiles. Any ideas has how to clean the tape off the floor tiles The last time I did this I used A sharp blade clamped in mole grips but this is hard work. Any one with any easier method please

Use a hair dryer to melt the gloo in the tape, and then just peel it off

I haven’t tried it myself, PeterP, but this method seems successful going off the video and comments in response to it:

Cover the tape with an old wet towel then apply a heated iron to the area, and leave it there till the tape can be easily scraped up. Someone said a steam cleaner did the trick as well.

Try a squirt of WD40, and leave it a bit, won't do any harm to liles.

I have some sticky stuff remover spray I got from Aldi. It has a nice orange smell unlike WD40 and works a treat on anything sticky.

Used a light spray of WD40 and left for a couple of hours then used a cloth and just wiped it up like a spillage thanks Will run mop over tiles later to get rid of any smell

I always thought the smell of WD40 was rather a pleasant odour.

It is not a nice smell when it gets into your fingers, and you can't wash it off, you scrub your fingers, and you can still smell it on them
